A believable and fun read.
Revisado: 09-05-24
I'm 81, and I've been a science fiction fan ever since I first watched Space Patrol in the very eatly 50s on our first TV set. Then, after I started 7th grade in our combined Jr. and Sr. high school and got access to a real school library, I was off and running. My reading habits became voracious. My tastes have become much more eclectic in the succeeding years, but I still occasionally return to S.F. This book really rewarded that occasional return to the well. The human characters are college age kids, but it's not, at least to my way of thinking, restricted to the youth market. It's a really fun read and very easy to get caught up in. I thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely recommend it.

Historia
After being stranded on a very different and more perilous Earth, Colonel Lewis Cayce led his small army of displaced Americans, natives of the Yucatán, and Jaguar Warriors to defeat the biggest host the Dominion general Agon could assemble. Most unexpectedly, General Agon came to recognize the inherent evil of the Dominion and its depraved Blood Priests and turned on his former leaders.

the detailed battle descriptions are extremely accurate.

I'm very much drawn to Taylor Anderson's ability to bring his characters to life. They're very easy to see as real breathing people.

Historia
Opening with the young Clark Kent on a date, this novel takes an entirely fresh approach to the emergence of his superpowers and the start of his newspaper career, following him from rural 1930s Kansas across America to Hollywood in its golden age and then to New York City. He meets a worldly Lois Lane and conniving political boss Lex Luthor, and begins his battles against criminal masterminds, mad scientists, and super villains inspired by fascists.

Too many anachronisms!
Revisado: 06-26-17
Would you consider the audio edition of It's Superman! to be better than the print version?
Maybe. Hard to say.
What did you like best about this story?
It puts a good backstory to the Superman comic book story.
What three words best describe Scott Brick’s performance?
Generally convincing - mispronunciations
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Way too long for that.
Any additional comments?
The writer included several anachronisms, most of which I was able to ignore until he described the parts for the robots as including transistors. Sorry, but this was 1937, and the first implemented transistor wasn't developed until 1947. The method for purifying the materials needed to build transistors wasn't yet developed, although they were known to be theoretically possible. It took Bell Labs, a very large research organization to accomplish it.
