Historia
The assumptions and obsessions that control our daily lives are explored in tantalizing detail by master novelist John Updike in this wise, witty, sexy story. Harry Angstrom - known to all as Rabbit, one of America's most famous literary characters - finds his dreary life shattered by the infidelity of his wife. How he resolves - or further complicates - his problems makes a compelling listen.

The audio book deviates from the printed edition.
Revisado: 11-03-24
When listening to the audio book while also reading the printed book, I found multiple places where the audio version was edited to deviate from the printed text. Everything from a sentence being removed or words being changed to the make and color of a car being changed. I want to hear what Updike actually wrote and printed.

Historia
Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Love the ambient music
Revisado: 11-30-22
I love the subtle music, atmospheric sound effects and the multi-actor narration. I’m very disappointed they don’t maintain it in the sequels

An examination of the Scientific Revolution that shows how the mechanistic world view of modern science has sanctioned the exploitation of nature, unrestrained commercial expansion, and a new socioeconomic order that subordinates women.

Very awkward narration
Revisado: 12-02-20
Not trying to be mean, but I actually thought it might be an auto generated computer voice until I checked. Jones has a perfectly nice voice, but the cadence and intonation is extremely distracting and honestly difficult to listen to.

Historia
On a cool June morning, Isa Wilde, a resident of the seemingly idyllic coastal village of Salten, is walking her dog along a tidal estuary. Before she can stop him, Isa's dog charges into the water to retrieve what first appears to be a wayward stick - and to her horror, Isa discovers it's not a stick at all...but a human bone. As her three best friends from childhood converge in Salten to comfort a seriously shaken-up Isa, terrifying discoveries are made, and their collective history slowly unravels.

Slow
Revisado: 08-30-19
This audio book was slow paced in terms of both plot and literally in the narration. The story was too dialogue heavy and repetitive, and I listened to the entire second half on 1.25 speed.
