Loved it!
Revisado: 10-13-23
If you love Sherrilyn’s writing as much as I do, then you will love this story. Other reviews I read thought that Valteri’s reluctance to let go of his past was a bit much throughout the story, but I felt this recurring “self-abuse” was a natural play to the story. It just made sense and kept his character consistent with the choices he had made and would make, and the past that made him so jaded. This was something new in its own way, and I love that I can still read these books and take something away from it all. “Be kind to those you meet, for we are all fighting difficult battles” - per Savitar quoting Plato from “Styxx” also by Sherrilyn. And Fred Berman always delivers, he is so talented and worked his magical narration once again for a thrilling listen. I loved every minute, and will most likely listen again.

A phenomenal read!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I've recommended this book to all of my family and friends because of how wonderful and well-written this book is.
What other book might you compare What Alice Forgot to and why?
This book and the story hidden within is so unique and yet so wonderfully simple. The way Liane Moriarty captures human vulnerability in this story and how the average person deals with change, love, and acceptance is just so absolutely fantastic that I could not stop listening.
What about Tamara Lovatt-Smith’s performance did you like?
Tamara Lovatt-Smith was absolutely fantastic with her reading and the way she performs the characters. Her Australian accent adds so much authenticity to the story since it takes place in Sydney and the way she lays out Alice's thoughts - she made the experience that much more of an intense read for me.
Who was the most memorable character of What Alice Forgot and why?
Young Alice is my favorite, which seems strange since the entire book is from her perspective, but it's the way the author depicts two different types of people in the same person, with ten years of living as the only thing that separates them from each other. Young Alice is gentle, kind, optimistic, and maybe even a little naive, but her perspective on life is a lot slower, she appreciates the little things in her life, she sees what's important. Older Alice is jaded, angry, and bitter; and she blames it on her life, on living, when really, shes just forgotten what's important, she's lost herself.
Any additional comments?
One of my absolute favorite books, I can't say enough about it!
