Historia
Rilla is Anne and Gilbert Blythe’s youngest daughter, an excitable 15-year-old who is unaware of how the world works, and is only interested in having fun. But the world is on the brink of a global war, and soon Rilla’s family and life are turned upside down, as several of her brothers enlist in the army and are sent to fight overseas. The book follows Rilla’s life through the duration of World War I, as she grows up quickly from the responsibilities put on young women in this time.

Solid, but oof the narrator...

Not bad, definitely a book of its time, but a really interesting and enjoyable listen. Unfortunately the narrator makes the enjoyment hard though.

Historia
When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Nice Ride Until The Ending Messed It Up
Revisado: 04-19-19
TBH, I gravitated towards this book because of Julia Whelan; she's easily my favorite narrator. Once she pulled me in, reviews calling this book similar to Gone Girl sealed the deal.
The beginning is slow, but I got through it because I needed to know that the twist was. The twist was definitely satisfactory. Afterwards, however, the story starts to become predictable, especially if you read a lot of twisty suspense tales. Even still, it was enjoyable enough for me to go along on the ride...until the very end. The ending was superfluous and really ruined the rest of the book for me. That ending along with the eventual predictability of the book takes it out of Gone Girl territory and makes it really quite average. It's unfortunate because I'm probably never going to listen to it again because of that damned ending. But, I won't say veer away. I say listen to it and see for yourself.
