I've been very disappointed by this series. I'm uninterested in the "girlfriend" narratives which seem to dominate each book. Much of the prose violates the Chekhov principle that everything mentioned needs to contribute to the story: rather there is a lot of filler that seems intended to inflate the word count. An example is a very detailed description of how a Marine reporting to a superior officer renders a rifle salute (actually from a later volume in the series that I returned): who cares? How does that detail advance the story? Another example is how often the titles, ranks, service branch, and other such details are repeated ad nauseam after the initial use. I tried really hard to get to the parts of the story that should have described action, but was repeatedly disappointed, finally returning Books 3 and 4 in the series.

I was also disappointed by the stilted narration.

Would you consider the audio edition of Hunter Killer to be better than the print version?

Unknown; in general I prefer audiobooks.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters, situations, and plot arcs seem authentic and realistic.

Which character – as performed by Gary Galone – was your favorite?

Dan, of course.

Any additional comments?

"All due respect" to Gary Galone: learn how to pronounce corpsman, bo's'un, etc.
