A Welcome Curveball
Revisado: 10-21-23
This book left feeling I was missing out. The story was lovely, the narrative between Colton and Danny was great as expected, but the focus on India had me feeling left out. It was handled well, as we were going on the same journey as the characters were and they were also out of sorts, but I can easily see it being alienating for some. All in all, the culture was a shock to me but I welcomed the feeling given the nature of the story and the plot.

Historia
Two o'clock was missing. In an alternate Victorian world controlled by clock towers, a damaged clock can fracture time - and a destroyed one can stop it completely. It's a truth that 17-year-old clock mechanic Danny Hart knows all too well; his father has been trapped in a Stopped town east of London for three years. Though Danny is a prodigy who can repair not only clockwork but the very fabric of time, his fixation with staging a rescue is quickly becoming a concern to his superiors.

Perfectly Balanced
Revisado: 10-21-23
I stumbled onto this story not really expecting much. I just wanted a fun, lighthearted gay romance novel. I got that, and so much more! Colton and Danny are such a lovely pair, but on top of that we get a fun, exciting mystery to round everything up! The plot is equal parts romance and who-dun-it, both thrilling and wistful writing. I am all about this and I want more!

The Ending Is Paramount
Revisado: 10-21-23
Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical after the last book. It promised a lot and was leaving many of it’s threads to be resolved in this one. I’m so glad I was not disappointed, this book gave me everything I was expecting and more. It didn’t shy away from the hard truths and did not take the easy way out when resolving the conflicts. It was the perfect mix of sweet and romantic and thrilling and sad. Can’t wait to see what more this author has to offer!

Historia
Noah Westwood is tired of life on the streets, so he turns to Marcello Maltese, a man who owns a small media empire...and a few covert businesses, such as an escort service. Noah volunteers for this, but he's playing a dangerous game. A secret from his past could turn his new friends into enemies, and he isn't sure he can perform the duties he signed up for, especially when he's more interested in falling in love than hopping into the beds of his clients. This is complicated further when his hunky coworker, Harold Franklin, seems to be interested. Or is he?

Fresh Start?
Revisado: 05-24-23
Having come from Jay Bells previous novels, this one genuinely surprised me. I expected this would follow some vaguely named character in one of the previous books, and in a way it was. However, it felt refreshing to have character doing their own thing in a familiar setting. Also, I’m totally team Harold, making this feel like when Tim and Ben began all over again.

My name is Nathaniel Courtney, and I m a survivor. I didn't let the cruelty of others wear me down, and I've weathered the more subtle hardships of the heart. Love is a Trojan horse, slipping past your guard and leaving you ransacked and vulnerable. I emerged from that war not unscathed but as a new man. The only mistake I ever made was letting the right guy get away. Now I've got one more chance. This is the final battle, because if I fail now...I won't. You'll see.

Never Fails
Revisado: 05-13-23
Another wonderful entry in an already spectacular series. Jay Bell doesn’t disappoint in this loving and heartfelt story of love and loss and second chances. It makes your heart break in all the best ways and never fails to soothe that pain. A roller coaster of emotions I don’t want to get down from!

Historia
Kelly Phillips has been out and proud since he was a young teenager, and thanks to the gay youth group he frequents, he's never been short on friends or lovers. But when you have almost everything, it's hard not to focus on what's just out of reach: a best friend who would be Mr. Right if he wasn't already Mr. Straight. Or that handsome athlete at school who would be easier to wrangle if not for his angel wings. And then there's the guy who might be a perfect fit, maybe even a soul mate...if only he wasn't convinced he didn't need anyone.

Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 05-10-23
I want to be completely honest. This wasn’t a story I was looking forward to. The entry before this one, Something Like Spring, felt like the natural ending to the series. In fact, so much so that I didn’t feel the need for more. But as I felt the itch that only a Jay Bell story had to offer, I couldn’t keep away.
For me, Kelly was never a particularly interesting character. I felt no need hear his story. Somehow though, Jay Bell did his magic and made me fall in love all over again. In the spirit of honesty, for me this has been the weakest story in the series thus far. This is mostly because I didn’t resonate as strongly with Kelly as I did with the other main characters or their struggles.
But in the end, this is a wholesome story about a guy trying to pick up the pieces of his life the best way he knows how. A guy that knows what he wants and does his best to get it. Kelly was the perfect character to tell this story, and I’m here for all of it.

The Story I Didn’t Know I Needed
Revisado: 10-03-22
When I was browsing for what to listen next, I was looking for a lighthearted angsty romance. This story is not that. When I read the summary for this, it was pretty much the opposite of what I was looking for. Looked to be heavy on the angst, some adult themes, potentially mature. But the narrator was a personal favorite of mine and he convinced me to sample the book. I was not disappointed.
At first, I was a little iffy on the story, but the writing was great and the scenes were quite moving. The story picked up quickly for me after that and I just couldn’t let it go. I didn’t care much for the wolfy side of this audiobook. I’m no convert after listening to this and I did cringe in a few places because of it, but it never overpowered the story for me. The rest of the story hooked me though. Some of the themes hit close to home and the ending was just masterful, even if I saw it coming a mile away.
Simply put, this audiobook is fantastic! The story was well-paced despite spanning a little over a decade, main characters are well-written and developed, and the side characters all felt like distinct individuals, not cardboard cutouts… well, most of them at least. Also, I gotta give a shout-out to my boy, Kirt Graves. I already loved him from his other performances, but this story just seemed to be written for him.

Everything I Was Expecting And So Much More
Revisado: 07-31-22
I honestly don’t know where to begin with this Audiobook. I think a good starting point would be it’s story, which was a nice and simple, no frills story that blurs the line between erotica and romance. Is it going to win any major literary awards? Sadly, I don’t think so, and that’s a crying shame. It’s the kind of feel good, pick-up-and-listen story that I find every other blue moon. Audiobooks like these, where the chemistry of the main characters are the start and end of the plot, they’re the kind of stories I dream of finding.
As for the rest of the things I liked, I’ll refrain to just mention the highlights. I was already a fan of Kirk from the other books, but adding Silas was just the cherry on top I didn’t know I needed. While I’m at it, Kirk in the other books was very good and his voices, and the story itself, dove-tailed beautifully in this last one. I’m hard pressed to find anything negative to say, but if I had to, it would be the whole will they, won’t they tension Sam and Jesse had going on. It was weak sauce and no one was buying it. While Jesse’s tension was pretty strong plot-wise, some of the Sam bits deluding himself he wasn’t into it were a little cringe. Did it detract from the story? Heck no! 10/10 would recommend!

This Story Shouldn’t Be Legal
Revisado: 03-06-22
I’m sorry to the author and everyone else who worked on this book, but I couldn’t finish it. Going into it, I had my doubts. I didn’t know if I was going to like it or if I even wanted a story with Jace as it’s focus, given the last two. I quickly learned that this book was one of those stories you didn’t know you needed in your life.
Usually I either love stories or I forget about them a few minutes after I’m done with them. This one was unique. Granted, I don’t know all the details of the ending, but knowing what ultimately happens with Jace from previous stories, I rebelled against any ending that doesn’t end with… well, I don’t want to spoil it. Point is that I know this will never happen because that’s not how life works, but I demand a rewrite of this story.
Never have I cried so hard for a story before. Written or otherwise. And not just tears trickling, I mean ugly crying. I don’t want it to end the way I know it will ultimately end, even though that ending was also lovely and I did tear up during it. But I want an alternate version to this story. Continuity be damned. I refuse to finish this book. Knowing that it continues on after, well, the thing happens, is too cruel. So with all respect, I’ll move on to the other stories.

I love him. And I’m pretty sure he loves me back...even though he’s straight. When I first met Carter King, I knew he was something special. I imagined us being together, and we are, but only as friends. Best friends! I’m trying to be cool with that, even though I know he has secrets, and there have definitely been mixed signals. I don’t want a crush to ruin what we already have. Then again, if there’s any chance that we can be together, it’s worth the risk, because Carter could be the love of my life. Or he might be the boy who breaks my heart.

It’s So Good, It Hurts.
Revisado: 02-15-22
This story hits all the emotional chords. It was funny, it was romantic, it was cringe and wholesome and tragic. I felt especially close to this story simply on how emotionally real and visceral it felt. Maybe it was nostalgia or some sort of emotional kinship that hooked me, but this book definitely took me for a rollercoaster from start to finish.
With an effort to scrape the barrel for critical things to point out. I’ll start by saying that the narrator’s performance didn’t really stand out to me. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but his particular voice wasn’t my preference. Another thing I’ll say is that the story is definitely a slow burn. It doesn’t pick up immediately, especially if you’re into those “will they, won’t they” stories.
However, despite these failings, I got into the story once it picked up and the narrator carried the emotional scenes well. All in all, it’s a beautiful story about friendship and love and hate, and how strongly they can be tangled in our hearts. I couldn’t have asked for a better story for my emotional fix.
