Historia
For nearly four-hundred years, the Veil has protected us from the Fae of Alfheimr. In their absence, our lives have shifted from decadence and sin to survival and virtue under the guidance of the New Gods. I’ve spent my entire life tending to the gardens next to the boundary between our worlds, drawn to the shimmering magic like a moth to the flame. All of that changes the day the Veil shatters, unleashing the fae upon our world once again.

Not for me
Revisado: 04-23-24
I definitely did not enjoy the relationship/power dynamics or the descriptions of the intimate encounters in this - I love a spicy book - but this just didn’t do it for me… actually made me uncomfortable. Might be your cup of tea and that’s cool :)

Historia
London, 1925: In a world of townhomes and tennis matches, socialites and shooting parties, Miss Nan O’Dea became Archie Christie’s mistress, luring him away from his devoted and well-known wife, Agatha Christie. The question is, why? Why destroy another woman’s marriage, why hatch a plot years in the making, and why murder? How was Nan O’Dea so intricately tied to those 11 mysterious days that Agatha Christie went missing?

Entertaining and clever
Revisado: 04-14-22
Entertaining and clever story, with lovely narration, that tells an Agatha-style story about Agatha. I also like the perspective the story was told from. Well done.

Historia
Bono met his wife in high school, Park says. So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be, she says, we’re 16. What about Romeo and Juliet? Shallow, confused, then dead. I love you, Park says. Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love.

Engaging
Revisado: 04-14-22
It’s a really engaging story with authentic characters. The author really captures/portrays the euphoria of first love - and the highschool age with simple honesty and sincerity. There is no cynicism or judgement, it had the urgency and emotion we all have felt as a teenager in love without turning it into a melodrama. A very touching book…albeit a somewhat unsatisfying ending.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

A true representation of love
Revisado: 06-25-20
I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with this book - but the character of Ove reminds me so much of two very important men in my life and I couldn’t stop smiling while listening to this story. It felt so real and true. The story was beautiful and his progress through his grief was therapeutic. Loved this.
