If you listened to the 1st book, One Second After, it will take a few chapters to get used to the new voice of the protagonist John. That being said, I enjoyed finding out how the town of Black Mountain continues to recover from the "day".

I am a big fan of human endurance and survival stories, fiction and non-fiction, so this story was very enjoyable for me. The narration was well done and his reading gave the characters life and I could feel the pain and loss they suffered.

As a young man of 20, I thought I knew basically all there was to know about Regan's life and presidency. I wasn't very interested in politics back then but had heard enough news to think I was well informed.
This book goes deep into Regan's public and private life giving great insight and details that helped me appreciate the great man Regan was.

Absolutely no character development. Only listened to find out what happened next in the story, nothing engaging about the characters at all...

I enjoy human survival and endurance stories. This is a good, in depth story of a tiny group of people who survive a worldwide viral extermination. It's kind of fun to imagine being able to take whatever you need and go wherever you like.
No explanation is given as to how the surviving humans were not infected, including a particular group of siblings and their children.
The story ends a little flat but there surely will be a follow up if there isn't one already...

Stories of human endurance are some of my favorite reads whether fictional or factual or a little of both., which this story is. I also like the historical period in which it takes place.
The narrator does a great job with the story and I especially like the raspy voice of the injured Hugh Glass.
Unfortunately the story conclusion is slightly anti climactic but the historical notes in the final chapter help provide a sense of closure.

By far, my favorite audiobook to date. McCullough is a BRILLIANT author and narrator. He brings to life, in vivid detail, the historic characters and events so that you get a new appreciation of life during our nation's struggle for independence. Am looking forward to more from McCullough.
