Historia
Werner Herzog was born in September 1942 in Munich, Germany, at a turning point in the Second World War. Soon Germany would be defeated and a new world would have to be made out the rubble and horrors of the war. Fleeing the Allied bombing raids, Herzog’s mother took him and his older brother to a remote, rustic part of Bavaria where he would spend much of his childhood hungry, without running water, in deep poverty. It was there, as the new postwar order was emerging, that one of the most visionary filmmakers of the next seven decades was formed.

Eclectic, Intriguing, Engrossing

There are many aspects one could try and pin down to explain this memoir to a new reader. My short reply is that reading/listening to this book is like listening to a time traveller who is to their own self always true. Indeed this is a man who grew up in a certain time and place that few if any can relate to and done much that a select few could dream of doing. He is truly one of a kind and the portions of his life covered therein are evidence of such. I am glad Mr. Herzog narrated the book, hearing it from anyone else would have lessened the impact.

Historia
Evangelical Christians are perhaps the most polarizing—and least understood—people living in America today. In his seminal new book, The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, journalist Tim Alberta, himself a practicing Christian and the son of an evangelical pastor, paints an expansive and profoundly troubling portrait of the American evangelical movement.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Never just black and white
Revisado: 03-03-24
This engrossing real life story of World War II follows a German and American pilot, the moment their lives intersect and how it changes them forever. Proving that even in war there are human beings on both sides of the fighting. Poignant at times, no punches are held. A well written book covering a story that woukd have been left in the past more so if not shared by these two men.
The performance is well paced and the narrator differentiates the voices well.

The start of something great
Revisado: 09-29-22
"Midshipman's Hope" is the starting book in the Seafort saga. Having read through the series over two decades ago I looked forward to revisting it in audio form. This production does the story justice and the narrator does well both in tone throughout the story and in voicing all the characters.
The series focuses on Midshipman Nicholas Seafort and the trials that he and the ship Hibernia experience on an interstellar trip to the colony planet of Hope Nation.

Revisado: 02-02-22
Well written and engaging, this novel had great pacing, character building and an interesting world created for it and I look forward to more that will come. Highly recommend for fans of fantasy. I would rank it up there with The Belgariad series or Dragonlance.
