Historia
The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

I live in Idaho. I'm a Mormon. I homeschool. I use alternative medicine. I relate extremely well to the author's personality. So I am particular found this book to be deeply personal on a number of levels. This book may be construed to have condemned all those things. But I don't think so. It was a book about coming to see things as they are and see how they really affect you. It's about perspective. and how to develop it. It's about the raw courage and panic and drive that fueled the author's journey in life so far. I hope many of my friends and family take the time to read or listen to this book, and take a moment to really evaluate their own perspective on things. I felt the pull to take heart that there truly is power to create good from the experiences we can't control along with those we can control.
