Looking forward to book 3
Revisado: 06-10-20
I enjoyed both books so far, looking forward to the next book in the series.
I liked the perspective of the survivors, made a nice change from book 1. I didn’t like how long it took to get to the zombie stuff.

This is one of the few series where I think the character actually grows and develops and doesn’t just end up as the penultimate being. Johns personal development is also interesting, and I enjoy the space/sci-fi aspects of these later books more that the originals

Historia
Vainqueur Knightsbane is your average dragon: A giant, fire-breathing lizard who loves to take naps on his golden hoard, kidnap princesses for fun, and make the life of adventurers miserable. Vainqueur's only pleasure in life is to watch his treasure get bigger, one coin at a time. So when a would-be thief turned unwilling minion tells him about "classes", "levels", and "quests", Vainqueur wonders if maybe, just maybe, he should consider a career change. After all, why bother hunting monsters for free when you can get paid for it?

Very fun take from the monster perspective
Revisado: 05-30-20
I very much enjoyed this book. There were a few areas that were super predictable, but overall it was a very fun listen. I like Jack Voraces and how he does the voices, although he missed the voice modulation on the dragon a few times which pulled me out of the story, still very well done though.

A haven for humanity. Factions forming and fracturing. The seeds of a new empire. Drew and his team are racing to create a system-recognized "Habitat". To make this happen, they must conquer more nodes, deal with an antagonistic superior officer, and possibly worst of all: Their own fear. Freeing the troll’s sacrificial captives was only the beginning. Now the remnants of humanity must find a safe place to call home. But Nat's Park isn't the safe haven he was promised it would be. Not only do internal politics threaten to rip the survivors apart, an unknown danger haunts the stadium.

I enjoyed this second entry in the series. Overall, I enjoyed the book, although it wasn’t as good as the first one. I felt like there was too many “info dump” sections, that could have been achieved more organically. I still really enjoyed it and will be picking up the next one in the series

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Very Good
Revisado: 05-04-20
I very much enjoyed this book. This author has been hit and miss for me, I enjoy some of their work and get bored with other books. This one, it kept me hooked all day, I kept finding excuses to go listen to it. Let me go fold some laundry and listen, maybe I’ll do an extra load of dishes and listen, I’ll go take a walk and listen...
The references to old Video Games are well done, lots of description that lets you know EXACTLY what game is being referenced, without ever once saying the title. The main character is fun and has interesting powers that she uses well, without being really over powered.
I’ve recommended this to all of my gaming friends, and none of them are really big readers. It is a short, extremely fun, listen/read.
Do yourself a favor and check this out, it’s a fun ride for a day.

This is the second book in the series, and I felt it was an excellent addition. I still don’t like some of the use of language in the book, but I enjoy Montana’s character. I will be picking up the next one :)

Excellent start
Revisado: 04-06-20
I really enjoyed this book, and would have rated the story higher except for the focus on class disparities and the language. Most of the book was fine, and then I would get pulled out of the story by unnecessary vulgarity. I understand the class imbalance is a part of the story, but it kept coming back up over and over.
I still really enjoyed the premise of a combine VRMMO, and have the next one in my wishlist to pick up

Enjoyable addition to the series
Revisado: 03-12-20
I overall liked this book, although it started much slower than the others and took me awhile to get into it. While I enjoyed the parts from the perspective of the main character, it did pull me out of the story because I was experiencing the NPC perspective which i can’t see how would happen in a game world. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it.
Jack does an excellent narration job as usual, although as a former American military member his pronunciation of reveille jarred me a little

Excellent addition to the series
Revisado: 03-05-20
I very much enjoyed this book. A lot more concentration on Erik and Rugrat, which was good. I don’t mind the side characters, but sometimes I feel like there isn’t enough screen time for the main guys.
I enjoyed the city building and dungeon aspects of this realm.
Overall, an excellent addition to the series

I enjoyed the book. Nothing spectacular happens, but it was an overall fun ride. I’m not a huge fan of the voice acting, it comes off way to serious. I won’t be giving this a second listen, but I will try the second book out
