Historia
In keeping with the parable style, Patrick Lencioni begins by telling the fable of a woman who, as CEO of a struggling Silicon Valley firm, took control of a dysfunctional executive committee and helped its members succeed as a team. Story time over, Lencioni offers explicit instructions for overcoming the human behavioral tendencies that he says corrupt teams. Succinct yet sympathetic, this guide will be a boon for those struggling with the inherent difficulties of leading a group.

Good Frame for The Topic
Revisado: 02-27-12
As I have noted in other reviews I greatly enjoy the fable framework used in books such as "Five Dysfunctions" and it works here as well. The story of new CEO Kathryn's battle to unite an executive team and the lessons both personal and professional that come from that will be applicable to me in my life as a teammate on a variety of teams at work and outside work.
The reader did a good job, with an even pace and proper (to me) emphasis in the appropriate places.

Historia
In this book, we travel inside Emily's and Paul's brains as they attempt to sort the vast quantities of information they're presented with, figure out how to prioritize it, organize it, and act on it. Fortunately for Emily and Paul, they're in good hands: David Rock knows how the brain works - and more specifically, how it works in a work setting. Rock shows how it's possible for Emily and Paul, and thus the listener, not only to survive in today's overwhelming work environment but succeed in it - and still feel energized and accomplished at the end of the day.

Enjoyed Frame Stories, But Narration A Little Off
Revisado: 02-14-12
I very much enjoyed the concept of this book - two characters Paul & Emily moving through their normal days at work and home scene-by-scene with breaks to review their mental processes and suggestions for mechanisms to improve the outcome of the scene, followed by a "Take Two" replaying the scene with the central character having more self-awareness and utilizing the concepts just described.
At the end of the day many of the mechanisms presented by the author do boil down to having greater self-awareness and framing your situations in a less threatening fashion (don't just assume everyone is attacking you or making fun of you), but it was still a good overall audiobook that I did enjoy and would recommend.
The narration was OK, but as other reviewers have mentioned there are times when it seems words are emphasized in an unusual fashion or sentences are broken at inappropriate places.

Read the Descriptions, People!
Revisado: 02-06-12
Several other reviewers have complained about the religious focus of this book; the description of the audiobook here on Audible.com talks about "being the dads God designed us to be" and our "God-given" roles as dads - what are you expecting people?
I greatly enjoyed the book, both the subject matter and the presentation. The only thing that kept the performance from being five stars was that the author proceeded a little more slowly than I like through some areas of the narration (but that's my taste).
Overall, "Better Dads, Stronger Sons" made me pause and consider several things about both my relationship with my two young boys (both under two) and my wife of five years, which is exactly what I hoped for when I ordered the book. Thanks Rick!
