Historia
As the United States marks the 150th anniversary of our defining national drama, 1861 presents a gripping and original account of how the Civil War began. 1861 is an epic of courage and heroism beyond the battlefields. Early in that fateful year, a second American revolution unfolded, inspiring a new generation to reject their parents' faith in compromise and appeasement, to do the unthinkable in the name of an ideal.

Interesting though lengthy read

Contains much historical information that I had not previously heard. It describes in depth many historical, social, economic and personal factors influencing the reasons for and early progress of the civil war.

Historia
The latest developments in physics have the potential to radically revise our understanding of the world: its makeup, its evolution, and the fundamental forces that drive its operation. Knocking on Heaven's Door is an exhilarating and accessible overview of these developments and an impassioned argument for the significance of science. There could be no better guide than Lisa Randall.

Well written and nicely read.

An enjoyable and informative read. However Lisa Randal has included a couple of long (chapter long) rants on religion and it's relevance or lack thereof. It would be a pity to give up. Just move on to the next chapter and enjoy informative and well presented information.
