Historia
A thorough understanding of Conservatism's lineage, principles, and impact on history is essential to making sense of the 21st-century political dialogue-a dialogue that consumes the television you watch, the newspapers you read, and the radio you listen to.No matter where you place yourself on the ideological spectrum, these 36 lectures will intrigue you, engage you, and maybe even provoke you to think about this political philosophy in an entirely new way.

Good book. Good series. Epic performance!
Revisado: 12-17-23
The series would not have been what it was without Eric Jason Martin’s epic performance. I have been listening to Audible for 15+ years and have a few thousand titles - and EJM’s performance is up there with Ender’s Game and Harry Potter, for me.

Historia
Having defended Moon Wolf Citadel from the super guild, Ragnarok, and carved out a place for himself in Nova Terra, Thorn stands on top of the fantasy world. But Nova Terra is not as simple as it seemed. Thorn quickly discovers that the political leaders in the capital of Northern Angoril are turning jealous eyes on him. The young Titan is forced to take a step back, beset by complications on every side. With players flocking to Greymane Valley the pressure of ruling the Wolfkin grows, not helped by Ragnarok’s unrelenting attempts to destroy his fledgling guild.

Historia
No sooner had Thorn stepped into his new role as Titan of Earth than the enemies of the Duchy pounced, their armies flooding into Ironhold. With barely enough time to plan their defense, Thorn and the Wolfkin are forced into battle against forces that outnumber them five to one. To make matters worse, other guilds who have long eyed Nova Luna’s position, are eager to cut Thorn and his friends down to size. Hemmed in by enemies on every side, the only way to overcome this world shaking challenge is to cut straight through it.

By book 10, if you don’t know how great this series is…
Revisado: 12-17-23
Loved every minute of it as I expected to. I mean yeah, there were some dry battle scenes lasting 45 minutes at 1.5 speed, and there were some cringey lines… but along with those, were hours of moving character arcs and final acts of heroism. I would recommend this book to anyone. But I’ve said that about the last 9 as well.

Historia
Back when restaurant menus were still printed on paper, and wearing a mask—or not—was a decision made mostly on Halloween, David Sedaris spent his time doing normal things. As Happy-Go-Lucky opens, he is learning to shoot guns with his sister, visiting muddy flea markets in Serbia, buying gummy worms to feed to ants, and telling his nonagenarian father wheelchair jokes. But then the pandemic hits, and like so many others, he’s stuck in lockdown, unable to tour and read for audiences, the part of his work he loves most.

Historia
Our "30-is-the-new-20" culture tells us that the twentysomething years don't matter. Some say they are an extended adolescence. Others call them an emerging adulthood. But 30 is not the new 20. In this enlightening book, Dr. Meg Jay reveals how many twentysomethings have been caught in a swirl of hype and misinformation that has trivialized what are actually the most defining years of adulthood.

Historia
In his newest collection of essays, David Sedaris lifts the corner of ordinary life, revealing the absurdity teeming below its surface. His world is alive with obscure desires and hidden motives, a world where forgiveness is automatic and an argument can be the highest form of love. Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim is another unforgettable collection from one of the wittiest and most original writers at work today.

All the stars!
Revisado: 04-28-21
If I could give this and all of David Sedaris‘s books infinity stars, I would! It’s definitely humor, and it’s definitely satire, but he hits so many societal “nails on the head” perfectly that it just makes it so much fun to listen to! Definitely recommend to all my friends! Hope to emulate his writing someday!

Historia
The future is now. Artificial "machine" intelligence is playing an ever-greater role in our society. We are already using cruise control in our cars and automatic checkout at the drugstore and are unable to live without our smartphones. The discussion around AI is largely polarized; people think either machines will solve all problems for everyone or they will lead us down a dark, dystopian path into total human irrelevance. Regardless of what you believe, the idea that we might bring forth intelligent creation can be intrinsically frightening.

So Much More than Expected
Revisado: 09-15-20
I got this book hoping for an overview of Artificial Intelligence and its likely impact on our coming world. What I wasn’t expecting was a wonderful thought piece on how to look at the relationship between humans, AI, and the pursuit of knowledge. Simon Jones’ performance was also brilliant.

#1 on my nursing student must read list!
Revisado: 09-11-20
I love this book. I think it’s CLEAR the author was an English professor in her previous job. It shows!
This is not the text version of Greys Anatomy. You don’t have magic cures and out of left field diagnoses- you have hard working people placed in the care of hard working people. The book makes you feel for the patients AND the nurse and it inspires the reader to answer their calling, no matter what that is. It gets scientific but not for long so don’t fret about that. It’s just so uplifting in a heavy way.
I wish I had read this before I started nursing school. It reminds me why I’m doing it!
