This audiobook contained a lot of helpful and vital information regarding topics such as permaculture, food allergies, sustainable living, and educational programs. However, it was so hard to get through because of the narration. I have sampled other audiobooks by this narrator and he has a lovely tone and does not appear to have the same issues as were evident in this recording. The cadence was that of a robot or a "speech to text" message. Mispronunciations from Mufasa to pronouncing edamame as enema were frustrating. I found myself correcting the narrator through most of the book and shouting "spit it out" as the long pauses and attempts to sound out words was maddening. He also spoke what I have to believe were instructions for the narration. He would say "repeat" and then would repeat a word. Not like "I repeat" but simply as if he was reading a cue. I urge the producer, author, and narrator to listen to this project. I honestly don't believe it was meant to be the final recording, especially given the narrator's other work.

This was a nice refresher on how to scale back and focus on the important things in life. I liked the message of service and humility while serving God, family and friends, and others.

I think the advice provided is well worth considering;however, it should be a starting point for an in-depth review. I used it to confirm my current plan with my financial advisor. I did not care for the delivery of the message. I will admit that I have never listened to Mr. Ramsey's radio show and perhaps his type of overwrought/cheap theatrics are part of his radio personality. However, I prefer to be provided information for consideration in a civil manner. I thought more than once that he needed to lower his voice and raise his argument. Overall, I would recommend the book but perhaps in written form for those not wanting the dramatic screeching.

This is a great, brief, and simple overview of living a minimalist life! It flows well and hits the major topics. It is a great starting point for those ready to dip a toe into the minimalist lifestyle and provides a nice little blueprint for building a plan. The narration was wonderful as well.

This is a beautifully written and thought provoking story that keeps you engaged right to the very end. It is dark and intense and leads down a winding path that does a great job of integrating the various lives created by distinct and not so distinct choices. The story is highlighted by a engaging and perfect narration.

If you could sum up Bitter Greens in three words, what would they be?

Enchanting, Seductive, Unforgettable

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that it surprised me even though I thought it could not (having heard the story of Rapunzel many times over and having some knowledge of Charlotte Rose). It was so enganging and vibrant and a complete page turner.

What about Kate Reading’s performance did you like?

The narration was one of the best I have ever heard. I will look for other books with this narrator as I believe her delivery of the story added greatly to its haunting, enchanting quality.

Everything a Romance Novel Should Be!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this novel without hesitation. It has everything a girl wants in a romance novel. There are times for a serious read, for a read to expand your mind and educate you, and then there is the time for a good romance novel to remind you of those saucy paperbacks of your youth! This novel has it all - spirited heroine, a strong hero, danger, love, and the happy ever after!

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main female character is spirited and strong and does not give up on her dreams but remains open to true love.

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

I honestly believe Kirsten Potter is one of the best narrators I have ever heard. She has an uncanny ability to bring each character to life and does not possess one ounce of that boring monotone voice that can make some books so hard to listen to even if the story is a good. I would defintely listen to more books - outside of this genre - where she is the narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Fighting Highland Lass

Like Having a Personal Organizer of Your Own!

Where does Unstuff Your Life rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of my favorite purchases to date. Andrew's direct and sometimes snarky (which I like) delivery of this step-by-step guide to getting it together is just the how-to organization bible I have been looking for to provide me with a practical, methodical way to get organized for good!

What other book might you compare Unstuff Your Life to and why?

I read Your Spacious Self by Stephanie Bennett Vogt right before reading this book. I would recommend reading Stephanie's book first if you are looking to get yourself into the right frame of mind to start doing the work you need to do in order to finally get organized. Andrew's book is a real pratical tool in getting organized - one you will refer to often. His approach is a step-by-step, no excuses plan to really doing the work - all of the work - necessary to organize everything from your purse to your computer. Yes, you even receive a step-by-step plan to organize your e-life.

Have you listened to any of Andrew J. Mellen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

While I do not believe there is another book narrated by Mr. Mellen, I can say that his narration of this book is one of the best I have ever listened to in that his timing and inflections are right on the money. It is not so much a reading of the book as much as it is an energized lecture of sorts. It is like having him as your personal organizer - for a bargain price! He is snarky without being hurtful and direct without being bossy and he provides a practical means of finally getting it all together.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved that point he made about an item not being your loved one. If you have ever held on to a material item because you thought you should out of respect for a loved one who has passed, Andrew helps you to see that the broken clock, chair, disintegrating hat, etc. is not your loved one and it is ok to let an item go that does not serve you any longer, no matter what sentimental attachment you may have once attached to the item. He helps you see that you are the keeper of the memories of your loved one's life, the object is not the keeper and it shouldn't be assigned that responsibility.

Any additional comments?

This is a wonderful book that you will read more than once. Also, if you go to his website, there are free printable resources for audible users to help you work through the task of getting organized - for good!
