Historia
When Maureen and her ex-husband Mike see their daughter Katie’s needle track marks for the first time, it is a complete shock. But, slowly, the drug use explains everything - Katie’s constant exhaustion, erratic moods, and all those spoons that have gone missing from the house. Once Mike and Maureen get Katie into detox, Maureen goes to sleep that night hoping that in 48 hours she’ll have her daughter back. It’s not that simple. Like the millions of parents and relatives all over the country, Maureen learns that recovery is neither straightforward nor brief.

Intriguing from cover to cover
Revisado: 01-16-25
This is actually one of those unicorn recovery stories that kept me fascinated and hooked from cover to cover. I love the author and narrator Maureen, it’s people like her that keep this world a good place to live. Thank you so much for such an inspiring title.

It was perfect, everything in this book was perfect. I love your work Tana. I’d love another installment in this series, I feel like I could listen to this story forever. That said, if this was the last book in the series, it’s a wonderful ending. Thanks for sharing your gift with us!

Historia
On an ordinary January afternoon, a disturbing revelation about his wife hurls one man into a maelstrom of public humiliation and heartbreak, and eventually on a spree of run-ins with lawyers, judges, therapists, and law enforcement. Land of July tells the true story of a teacher/student sex scandal that not only shocked an entire school and small suburban community, but made national news. It’s a story filled with countless anecdotes about marriage, trust, infidelity, grief, and the desperate search for hope and family in the face of ruin.

I really am sickened by the author.
Revisado: 05-27-21
Like... oh my lord... This is actually one of my first reviews I've written but I could Not sit quietly and listen anymore. I'm about half way though this book and the writer is so arrogant, belittling, cruel and selfish that it's totally igniting deep emotional PTSD of childhood verbal abuse; so much so you forget this book is NOT about him but about his Wife doing terribly inappropriate and unacceptable things with kids. His selfishness and petty mean-spiritedness ends up overshadowing the actual terrible crime the book is written about! Attitudes like this are deep at the core of emotional damage and mental abuse. Please if you know someone who acts like this, talks to you in this way or treats you or anyone you know this way, Please Reach Out For Help! What his wife did was terrible and unacceptable to the deepest degree, but having to listen to a story about not one but Two abusive people is just terrible. Also I agree with the other reviews, the narrator is not a good fit.

Historia
Cal Hooper thought a fixer-upper in a bucolic Irish village would be the perfect escape. After 25 years in the Chicago police force and a bruising divorce, he just wants to build a new life in a pretty spot with a good pub where nothing much happens. But when a local kid whose brother has gone missing arm-twists him into investigating, Cal uncovers layers of darkness beneath his picturesque retreat, and starts to realize that even small towns shelter dangerous secrets.
