Historia
As much as we might try to resist, endings happen in every moment—the end of a breath, the end of a day, the end of a relationship, and ultimately the end of life. And accompanying each ending is a beginning, though it may be unclear what the beginning holds. In How We Live Is How We Die, Pema Chödrön shares her wisdom for working with this flow of life—learning to live with ease, joy, and compassion through uncertainty, embracing new beginnings, and ultimately preparing for death with curiosity and openness rather than fear.

Wisdom for living and dying
Revisado: 06-06-23
As usual Pema’s words resonate in my heart and mind. I find guidance, comfort, encouragement and affirmation as I hear them.
While I missed hearing Pema’s voice, Olivia’s voice is lovely and her delivery is effective.
A book I will return to again and again.

Historia
Farleigh is just an orphanage–at least, that's what the church would have the people believe. But beautiful orphans Nox and fae-touched Amaris know better. They are commodities for sale, available for purchase by the highest bidder. So when the madame of a notorious brothel in a far-off city offers a king's ransom to purchase Amaris, Nox ends up taking her place—while Amaris is drawn away to the mountains, home of mysterious assassins.

Captivating!
Revisado: 03-08-23
I was so sad when the story ended and I found out Book 2 didn’t yet exist. ☹️ Engaging from the gate, I felt immersed into this world with these beings, seeing, feeling, experiencing all that they were. Enjoyed it all! Anxious to find The Night and Its Moon Book 2!

Failed to suspend my disbelief
Revisado: 03-08-23
The story line had promise (though never fully realized), the character development was inadequately manifested ( due in large part to the performance), and the overall performance was its undoing, IMO. The dual voice performance not only did not enhance the author’s attempt to create a world that could suspend my disbelief, it served to undermine it. When the same characters, in the same timelines, spoke in two distinctly different voices, imbuing completely different personalities into those same characters, it derailed every attempt at getting the whole story to successfully launch.
In the beginning I couldn’t even make heads or tails out of what was happening. Alternate universes? Timelines? Did I skip a part? Confusion ensued, and I kept playing parts over. Then I realized what was happening and considered returning the audible purchase because it was so distracting. I persisted hoping feedback from early books might have reoriented the ship for the later volumes, but no such luck. ☹️ It is unfortunate, but the overall impact was lacking.

Historia
Both an ancient, "found" wisdom text and a sumptuous, epic novel, Gaia Codex reveals the hidden histories of a world long forgotten, the secret wisdom of an ancient lineage of women, the Priestesses of Astera. Set in a near future of impending societal and environmental collapse, the novel is a tale of hope and remembrance, as well as an inspired vision of humanity's origins and of the potential we hold for conscious evolution.

Audio tragedy for potential treasure
Revisado: 03-10-21
I so wanted to LOVE this experience, but...☹️
Gaia Codex! The name holds such promise!
I may wait a few months and try reading it again on my own. Hopefully the wounds inflicted by the audio experience will have healed. 🥴
The premise is magnificent. The characters intriguing. Not sure I can fully judge the literary execution of the premise and the character development though, because the audio component was so distorting and distracting.
Really tragic in the big picture when trying to share such a potentially magnificent and valuable story and message.
I can’t quite understand how or why an author would do this to their own work... to the fruit of their creative labor.
The dissonance between the voice of the character and the voice of the reader was so vast, and the reader’s delivery was so affected and contrived, that at times it seemed the reader was reading the words for the first time ... and in a foreign tongue! In light of the fact that it was being delivered in the author’s own voice, it made me question whether it actually was the author’s work, or whether it was simply channeled by her from the goddess.
Kudos on the concept! But let go of ego and engage a professional reader to deliver the story ... in the characters’ voices. I guarantee it will have a more powerful and positive impact for your readers.
And maybe rework the ending? Unless it was intentional irony that the story of an ancient codex of our origin should end abruptly with an an announced, “The End!” ??
This is a story that begs for an epilogue and to taper softly into at least a subtle suggestion that the story ... continues. IMHO.
Read it! But take a hard pass on the audio version.

Good story
Revisado: 01-12-21
Narrator could use a little training on pronunciation, inflection and character development.
Spoiled by the spot-on narration style of Abby Crayden, which I have come to associate with most of the Jae books I have selected, I found some of Hayden’s character voices and vocabulary mispronunciations kind of grating at times.
Overall a great story.

Historia
Mystery writer Bethany Lange wasn't prepared for the twisting emotions that left her breathless the moment she laid eyes on folk singer sensation Ali Hart. Of course she was flat on her back and looking up and backward at the gorgeous singer, but that didn't stop her body and heart from bursting into a kaleidoscope of want, need, and lust. Scared at the intensity of her feelings, Bethany does everything she can to avoid Ali.

Unremarkable
Revisado: 09-18-20
The scenes are predictable and repetitive, the characters shallow and inadequately developed, and the chemistry is absent. I love a good lesbian romance, but this left me exasperated. The main character is whiny, insecure, and seriously codependent. All in all, the author failed to suspend my disbelief, which is my hallmark of worthwhile fiction. I found myself more annoyed than entertained.

Historia
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.
