Historia
After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle’s talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Caution: Eating Disorder Disclaimer!
Revisado: 08-23-22
There is a written disclaimer in the description but not spoken aloud.
Starting about half way through the book, all the way through the end there are detailed and explicit descriptions of eating disorder behavior. If eating disorder is a triggering topic for you, I strongly suggest you don't read this book.
There are also explicit moments of sexual coercion. If issues of consent are triggering, skip some parts in the middle of the story.
Aside from the lack of disclaimer, it was a great book. Absolutely engrossing. I couldn't stop listening.
Jeannette McCurdy, you are a Diva and I love you. You were the icon of coolness when I was growing up and I'm so grateful you shared your story with the world now.

Historia
Toda mi vida ha sido una espera. Irme por lo seguro. Ser la chica buena, no salirme de lo establecido. Trabajé duro tratando de demostrarle mi valor a mi papá, luego a mis profesores universitarios, luego a mi jefe en New World Media.

How the Bible Actually Works makes clear that there is no one right way to read or listen to the Bible. Moving us beyond the damaging idea that “being right” is the most important measure of faith, Enns’ freeing approach to Bible study helps us to instead focus on pursuing enlightenment and building our relationship with God - which is exactly what the Bible was designed to do.

A beautiful tool for coping with existential doom, Christian Apologetics and the controversy surrounding Biblical historicity.
