Historia
Since the dawn of time, across almost every culture, there have been legends of shape-shifters. Men who turn into beasts and prey upon anyone unfortunate enough to cross their path. Of the shape-shifter tales, none invokes as much terror as the legend of the werewolf. The stories of men who become wolves persisted through the centuries from campfire folk tales to the modern age, where we are still thrilled and horrified by tales of bloodthirsty predators in our midst.

Disappointing
Revisado: 02-02-23
Wanted more than just extreme werewolf violence porn. Some interesting stories but most were just werewolves being violent. I found the later stories far worse in this regard than the earlier ones with Hybrid: Bloodlines and Ivan's Night Out being especially bad in this regard. A lot of people complained about the narrator and I will grant you his accent is strong but I just focused a bit more and it was good and brought a flavor of Europe to the stories which I think helps any werewolf tale.

Historia
Powers of Darkness is an incredible literary discovery. In 1900, Icelandic publisher and writer Valdimar Asmundsson set out to translate Bram Stoker's world-famous 1897 novel Dracula. Called Makt Myrkranna (literally, 'Powers of Darkness'), this Icelandic edition included an original preface written by Stoker himself. Makt Myrkranna was published in Iceland in 1901 but remained undiscovered outside of the country until 1986, when Dracula scholarship was astonished by the discovery of Stoker's preface to the book.

Interesting but flawed
Revisado: 01-09-22
I always felt that Jonathan Harker’s time in Castle Dracula was the best part of the book and should have been longer. This is a longer version of that part of the book. It is also “Fan Fiction” of Dracula and the section of Dracula goes on too long. The conclusion, once Harker (now Thomas for some unknown reason) is written as a detailed outline that was never turned into an actual novel.
Glad I listened to it but a sad echo of the original.

Extremely enjoyable and informative!

Great overview including both fiction and non-fiction on wolves and werewolves. Great experience listening to her take on stories that I have read and being exposed to new materials that I want to read. Enjoyed the course tremendously!
