Historia
After the killing of a prominent mob lawyer, NYPD homicide detectives Jacob Jackson and Caitlin Grimes start receive chilling, written “rules” for how to commit the perfect murder. "Rule number one for the perfect murder: Evidence is your enemy. Leave none behind." Jackson (Reid Scott) and Grimes (Cobie Smulders) race to find the killer, setting them on a collision course with the city’s crime underbelly, and a perpetrator who seems happy to toy with them. “Rule number two. No crimes of passion. The perfect murder is always business, never pleasure.”

Great, Short Mystery
Revisado: 12-20-24
I enjoyed this story greatly. The voice acting was good, the story was easy to follow, and the ending brought a smile to my face. It wasn't some wild, crazy, twist at the end but it wasn't your every day murder mystery ending, either, and I liked that. Overall it was a fun and enjoyable story.

A neurodivergent's guide to embracing your true self and finding your happily ever after. Growing up, Chloé Hayden felt like she'd crash-landed on an alien planet where nothing made sense. Eye contact? Small talk? And why are you people so touch-oriented? She moved between 10 schools in 8 years, struggling to become a person she believed society would accept, and was eventually diagnosed with autism and ADHD. When a life-changing group of allies showed her that different did not mean less, she learned to celebrate her true voice and find her happily ever after.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-13-24
I am autistic and I wanted this to be a book to help me accept more of the hard parts of autism -- telling me that I'm different, not less. But this is more of a book telling neurotypical people that we are different, not less... And strongly implying we are actually better. That's not equality, that's superiority and I don't like it. I'm not arguing that I am worthy with anyone, I'm just trying to find my own place and my own identity in this diagnosis. There's lots of ranting. Angry ranting. There is also a LOT about the author and her life. The helpful tidbits (riddled with angry ranting and "correcting") isn't until the 2nd half. The first half was just about how horrible her life was. I feel for her, if what she says is true this was a very hard life, but I also felt like it drug on with many points mentioned twice or even 3 times throughout the book. While there were a few helpful tidbits overall I was disappointed and had trouble finishing it. I don't feel like I walked away with anything I didn't already have after having read other books on Autism beforehand.

Good Perspective
Revisado: 10-17-24
As an adult Autist, I find it so frustrating that a lot of books are written by either Allistics or written from a secular perspective. This book was a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed the art, the flow, the cadence, the information, and the perspective. I found a lot of the musings discussed in this book to be the very same thoughts and ruminations I have in my mind daily. I appreciate the author's thoughts and hope to find more gems like this in the future.

Millions of people visit xkcd.com each week to read Randall Munroe's iconic webcomic. His stick-figure drawings about science, technology, language, and love have a large and passionate following. Fans of xkcd ask Munroe a lot of strange questions. What if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90 percent of the speed of light? How fast can you hit a speed bump while driving and live? If there were a robot apocalypse, how long would humanity last?

Great fun to listen to
Revisado: 10-16-24
This was a fun read. Easy breaks with organic stopping points between sections, fun questions, wildly obsurd questions answered not just in simple terms but as fully fleshed out ideas, and wonderful narration. If you like science, thinking about unknowable things, exploring the edge of probability, or learning new things, you'll enjoy this. The author takes every idea to the very end of reason and doesn't give up easily. The narrator does a great job conveying humor and sarcasm. Great laughs and lots of facts to enjoy!

Historia
In these classic essays, which began as talks on the BBC during World War II, Lewis creatively and simply explains the basic tenets of Christianity. Taken from the core section of Mere Christianity, this book provides an accessible way for people to discover these timeless truths. For those looking to remind themselves of what they hold true, or those looking for a snapshot of Christianity, this book is a wonderful introduction to the faith.

Short and Sweet
Revisado: 07-18-23
An amazing collection of thoughts from one of the most amazing men of our time. Full of reminders, refreshers, and a few challenges. The reader was easy to understand and simply read the book. At first I thought he might grow monotone or I would get tired of his flat tone, but eventually his voice just melted into the backdrop, allowing for C.S. Lewis' words to take center stage. I will definitely be listening to it again.

So Much Better Than Any Movie Rendition!
Revisado: 12-16-22
Like most Americans I was very familiar with this story but had never actually read it. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the writing, the story, and the amazing performance. Sometimes I will listen to audiobooks read by actors with high expectations and end up being a little disappointed. That was not the case here. Hugh Grant did an amazing job! Being a classic I probably shouldn't have been surprised at how well written it was but not all classics are as enjoyable to read as one would expect. This was a pleasure all around and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Really Good and Super Practical
Revisado: 12-14-22
I am buying physical copies of this book to have on hand for any mom friend I know who is having a hard time and for every friend I have who gets pregnant for the first time. There are so many practical and easy ways to connect with God, find meaning in the mundane, and reminders that you aren't alone in this book. It has taken me years of mothering to come to some of these conclusions myself, but having this handed to me in a book form would have been a very sweet gift many years ago when I was new to it all. I highly recommend this for any mom, whether you have birthed children, adopted children, or just take care of children.
As for the performance, the lady has a great voice but at times she felt a little bit more like a news anchor than an audiobook performer. Her voice is really good, and clear, but it did feel a little off some of the time. However, once I got into it it didn't really bother me. I still highly recommend this audiobook in the words within it.

Fast-Paced And Enjoyable
Revisado: 09-27-22
Both narrators were good. I never had issues understanding what they were saying or who was supposed to be talking. As always, going back and forth between 2 narrators can be a little jarring at first but I didn't feel like it took me more than a few words to get back in to either Eva's or Claire's story from wherever we'd last left off.
The story was pretty good and the author did a good job of keeping things suspenseful without being overly predictable. While desperate and sometimes at their wits ends, I feel like both of the ladies were fairly level headed and not made to be idiots. I appreciated that as I get tired of protagonists that make stupid decisions that have clear consequences that are less than ideal.
Overall it was an enjoyable read.

I liked this story more than the first one.
I mean, who doesn't love a story where people are getting shot by arrows?!?
I especially enjoyed the introduction of Jameson White who quickly became my favorite character.
And once again, McLeod Andrews did a great job! excited to move on to the 3rd book!

Love McLeod Andrews!
Revisado: 09-22-22
This story was decent, not amazing but still interesting. I enjoyed the protagonist fairly well. He's kinda down-and-out, critical and sardonic, without being self-destructive. I LOVED the narrator! He did a great job; I was never confused about what was going on due to weird pauses or changes in inflictions like with some narrators. I immediately jumped into the second book in the series. If you like murder mysteries or detective style stories I would definitely recommend.
Side note, there is sex and a good amount of language in this book. The sex wasn't too graphic but definitely enough worth noting.
