John Pavlovitz examines the bedrock ideas of our religion: the existence of hell, the utility of prayer, the way we treat LGBTQ people, the value of anger, and other doctrines to help all of us take a good, honest look at how the beliefs we hold can shape our relationships with God and our fellow humans - and to make sure that love has the last, loudest word.

God + People

God + People. That’s what it boils down too, you neglect one at the expense of the other. How you treat people matters to God.

The audio book and book are a gift to Star Wars fans
Revisado: 05-11-22
Probably the best narrator voice I’ve heard on any audiobook thus far and the fact that he was talking about one of my favorite topics- win/win for me. Bright suns to all.

Historia
Of the many recent books on the historical Jesus, none has explored what the latest biblical scholarship means for personal faith. Now, in Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time, Marcus Borg addresses the yearnings of those who want a fully contemporary faith that welcomes rather than oppresses our critical intelligence and openness to the best of historical scholarship. Borg shows how a rigorous examination of historical findings can lead to a new faith in Christ, one that is critical and, at the same time, sustaining.

Speechless
Revisado: 06-15-21
Marcus is writing about Jesus from an angle that I had not seen before, but it resonates with me. I enjoyed this book, I had some really deep self discussions and notes. If you are looking to expand your perspective of the Gospels and Christian life then this book is for you. If you are still stuck in a Sunday School Tribal mentality and scared to be challenged then skip this book.

Historia
Let’s face it. A lot of Christian resources can feel cheesy, out-of-touch, and a little boring. But when Skye Jethani started doodling and writing up some of his thoughts about God, his Twitter and email list blew up. What If Jesus Was Serious? is a compilation of all-new reflections from Skye. He takes a look at some of Jesus’ most demanding teachings in the Sermon on the Mount and pushes us to ask whether we’re really hearing what Christ is saying.

Teaching the Way
Revisado: 09-08-20
This was a great compliment to the book. After I read the book and was hoping for the audio format. Skye carries forward the teachings of Jesus the Christ and stays true to what Christians call the “Great Commission”- teaching what the LORD commands. I recommend all of Skye’s books.

Historia
No one can serve up the Bread of Life like Anne Graham Lotz, who has described herself as simply God's able "waitress." Poignantly, passionately, and with spellbinding insight, she focuses the light of Christ's life on Earth so that its relevance burns true in your life today.

Wow. I was caught by surprised.
Revisado: 01-31-20
So tired of doctrinal debates, and hearing about this preacher or that priest, or hearing preaching just from the epistles, I searched for an audiobook just about Jesus. The title drew me in because that all I wanted and I got it. She is speaking @ a women’s conference but the message is for everyone male or female.

Timely (yes even in 2016) Practical advice.
Revisado: 03-17-16
If you could sum up The 8th Habit in three words, what would they be?
Timely, Practical, Helpful.
Have you listened to any of Stephen R. Covey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I read the 7 Habits and the 8th Habit is defiantly not a re-hash of the same material. The 8th Habit stands on the same foundational principles, but it stands on its own.
What did you learn from The 8th Habit that you would use in your daily life?
Not to wait for my Company to change, "be the change you want to see".
Any additional comments?
Don't let negative reviews of this book throw you off, I almost did and it is apparent that these people did not listen to the book or know anything about the 7 Habits. It is unfortunate that there are people who specialize in only giving negative reviews for no apparent reason other than boredom.
