Wonderful and timely read

Diane always comes through with a well researched and engaging story. With LAST HOUSE ON THE STREET she hit a nerve with a very timely story that made me think long and hard about my unrecognized prejudices. This book should appeal to all of us concerned with the current state of our troubled culture, while being a wonderful story of love and family. And as always, Susan Bennett’s narration was perfection.

Though the story was well crafted and the well written, most of the characters were so unlikeable and behaved so badly it was difficult to relate to any. This was my first Foley read and sadly it will be my last.

Paris setting an interesting change

Always a treat to return to Inspector Gamache and his family. The Paris setting and history added an interesting change to this latest book. It was a very complex story and you need to play close attention to details. At one point, about a third of the way through, things got very tense for all involved. But take heart! All ends well with a return to Three Pines and loving reconnections with other favorite characters, who were missed earlier in the story.
