I really liked this story...but if it could just have gone as far as Lucy reading the letter Emma brought her. I would have loved to know more about Lucy and how she reacted to Emma showing up

I could not stop listening
Revisado: 04-19-19
What can I say? This book can be seen as extremely religious and to me it was. I am not Christian nor do I follow any type of organized religion.
But this book, oh this book was wonderful. The story is moving and I could not stop listening. Hosea and Sarah (Angel) stole my heart.
You don't need to be religious to follow a code of goodness, forgiveness and understanding...this book demonstrates the trials a marriage faces and the struggles each character lived - It teaches you to always put yourself in someone's shoes before you judge.
You won't be disappointed - it's a great read/listen.

Very Slow Start, Bla - Good Performance
Revisado: 01-13-19
I listened for about two hours. In that time they managed to introcude a dozen characters, half with the same name and took you on an endless walk through a building that seemed to lead nowhere. I have to mention the sex scene, only because it was the most unpassionate and laughable quickie of all time. Paraphrased "I put on the protection, and it was over like that! Then we cuddled". What? I returned the book.

A bit long

I have liked the books I have read so far, from Miss Morton. This one, however, is a bit too long - more rhetoric than necessary, but a good story all the same.

Fantastic!!!!!
Revisado: 08-02-18
I do not know of anyone who has not seen the movie - but if you have not read this book, I highly recommend it.
I was surprised how close the movie came to this book but, of course, the book is ALWAYS better than the movie...right?
Frank Muller did a fantastic job narrating this book - this is the 2nd book I have listened to with him as the narrator. Already have all his narrations bookmarked.
Wonderful story, amazingly written - true to Stephen King!

Historia
Paul Bäumer is just 19 years old when he and his classmates enlist. They are Germany’s Iron Youth who enter the war with high ideals and leave it disillusioned or dead. As Paul struggles with the realities of the man he has become, and the world to which he must return, he is led like a ghost of his former self into the war’s final hours. All Quiet is one of the greatest war novels of all time, an eloquent expression of the futility, hopelessness and irreparable losses of war.

This last book was just OK - too much going on!!! And what happened to Camilla? is there going to be a book 6?
Simon Vance did an excellent job as usual and made this book bearable.
I am just confused as to where this series goes from here, if it goes anywhere at all.

Historia
We are in a small room with the vampire, face to face, as he speaks--as he pours out the hypnotic, shocking, moving, and erotically charged confessions of his first two hundred years as one of the living dead. . . He speaks quietly, plainly, even gently . . . carrying us back to the night when he departed human existence as heir--young, romantic, cultivated--to a great Louisiana plantation, and was inducted by the radiant and sinister Lestat into the other, the "endless," life....

I loved it
Revisado: 03-07-18
I really like Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles - read them years ago and decided to listen to them, since Simon Vance is the narrator.
I LOVE Simon Vance - the only thing I didn't like is that he made Louis sound like an old man - Although he tells his story centuries later, the overall characteristics of his being should have remained and Mr. Vance could have made his voice to sound younger. With all the rhetoric in the story, his "old man voice" drove me crazy sometimes.
But, overall this story was narrated well and I really enjoyed it.

Excellent
Revisado: 12-29-17
The entire series is simply excellent! Well written and, equally important, VERY well narrated.
I came upon this series while following Georgia Maguire. For those of you avid listeners and fans of multiple casts, there is no one like Miss Maguire. Her excellent reading skills and uncanny talent to change accents, dialects, voices, etc. is by far the best i've ever listened to.
Now, for this series...it has all you want and expect in a family saga. It is a story of a family who faces love, happiness, sadness, tragedy and much more.
I fell in Love with Dora and Joe and I would have liked for book 3 to continue thier saga and not concentrate it on their girls. I think those of us who love this series would enjoy a trilogy on the girls and thier families.
I recommend this trilogy. I will listen to it again and again.

Historia
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.

Ending could have been better
Revisado: 11-03-17
I really liked the narrator...the performance was great.
The story could have been relayed better. So much time was spent on describing how Cass felt each time...I mean how many ways is there to describe "fear"? Each incident was over-played by her describing how it made her feel.
Then you get to the end and in a couple of chapters the mystery unfolds. The author could have saved some of the unnecessary rhetoric and used it to prolong the ending, so Cass could face her tormentors and have a few more chapters with a happy Cass afterwards.
