Gothic-steampunkish goodness

First of all, there is going to be sex in this book, but it is sex without use of vulgar words. While certainly not for children, I didn't get offended or put off by the presence of the sex, but intrigued at the skill of the author to include sex without getting overly dirty, if you know what I mean.

The book is simply enjoyable, gothic-style horror set into science fiction with a touch of the bizarre. If you enjoyed "The Somnambulist" by Jonathan Barnes, this book will be right up your alley, with the added bonus that this book actually explains some of what's going on, while Barnes left explanations and conclusions to the imagination of his readers.

Glass Books captured by interest and emotion. The narration was very nicely done by Mr. Molina, and the inclusion of the Germanic accent was a nice change from so many other narrators who seem to specialize in Scottish and bad Scottish.

Narrator not the best

I have listened to an awful lot of audiobooks, and, folks, this Reader is one of the worst ones. Notice how he continually uses the exact same inflections over and over again. It doesn't matter if an event is mundane or if it is life-threatening, the voice expressing it gives exactly the same amount of alarm. It brings the entire experience into a level of frustration.

The book itself however, I enjoyed very much. It is perfect for those just getting into fantasy, or those who enjoy a light fantasy without having to memorize too many places or names to understand the plot.

Bottom Line: you're better off reading this one in print

I found this book to be entertaining. The pacing was well structured and kept the reader rapt for the next revealing clue about the mystery of Fiona. The psychiatrist's behavior was uncharacteristic of any psychiatrist I have known, but maybe the character just wasn't a very good psychiatrist...

A compliment to Eric Stoltz, his narraction was superb, comforting and yet a little spooky when it needed to be. And being that the character's voices sounded similar added to the feeling that the main character was totally confused.

Surely this wasn't the best book in the world, but I enjoyed the time I spent listening to it.
