Hexed by Emily McIntire is the perfect dark romance finale to the Never After series. Venesa and Enzo are giving forbidden love in the best way possible—like, how can I want this so bad and still know it’s so wrong?? Their chemistry is straight-up 😮‍💨😮‍💨*fans self* and the tension had me screaming "just kiss already!" But the real kicker? It’s not just the steam (though it’s 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️), it’s how McIntire flawlessly weaves in intricate details from The Little Mermaid that lovers of the fairytale will notice with ease. This isn’t just a retelling, it’s a reimagining—and McIntire does it so well.

I especially loved how McIntire flipped the character arcs, with Aria (Ariel) being the true villain and Venesa (Ursula) being the protagonist we actually root for. It was such a fresh twist and honestly, I’m here for it.
Now, this is audiobooks I do adore, so of course we have to discuss the narration. It was Duel-style, which I loved because it really brought both characters to life. But the true star of this audiobook? Madeleine Dauer. She did both accents for Venesa and Enzo FLAWLESSLY. Seriously, the voice work was so spot-on, I couldn’t get enough. Erik Bloomquist also did a great job, but as a New Yorker, I’ve got to say—his accent for Enzo, in some parts, fell a little flat for me. But it didn’t take me out of the story too much, especially since the chemistry between the characters still came through strong.

Now, I’m not gonna lie, a couple of the twists were kinda predictable. But like… the vibes were so good I didn’t even care. If you're into mafia romance with morally gray characters, sizzling tension, and a little danger, you NEED to add this to your TBR.

Mafia is one of my favorite subgenres of romance, and THIS is definitely on my recommendation list!

Before I start this review, I recommend you turn around and read the first three mazzone mafia books just because they take place in the same world. Also please please please realize this is a dark romance book, so the topics discussed in this are VERY VERY heavy, I recommend looking up cw/tw.

Now, let me tell you something! I had just finished the mazzone mafia and I was itching to get back into that world. I kept seeing this audiobook as a recommendation but was a little apprehensive. Then I saw one review that said it takes place in the same world and I did not think twice, I immediately bought it! With that being said this book is 4.5 stars at the minimum!

The back story, the plot twists, just following the journey of the FMC and the MMC as well as the side characters was a wild wild ride! I already told multiple people that if you love mafia romance and have very little triggers this us the story for you! Its a beautiful story about one strong woman and her road to love! It is an HEA so please don’t let the heaviness deter you.

My only qualm is the male narrator is a little monotonal, but it is dual pov so the woman narrator does all the women parts and the male narrator does all the male parts! I actually loved the Ramona Master in this one!

All I can say is WOW. First I will say to go into this blind! A friend of mine recommended this book to me and I was a little apprehensive because I was nervous that it would not live up to the hype.

BOY WAS I WRONG. Listen there are so many things that go into a pleasant reading experience and this has it all. First amazing narrators, this is key because they are telling the story and Vanessa Edwin and Jason Clarke do a phenomenal job at breathing life and personality into to every character in this story. Second there is pacing, I have no idea how Devney did but she paced this story perfectly! The moments that needed to be slow was slow and what needed to pick up speed did just that. Third, since this is a series you need some world building, she did that effortlessly as well. Lastly is plot, SHE DELIVERED ALLLLLLLLLLL THAT OKAY! Also yes there was spice and it was delicious 😏😏

Nothing more I can say but fantastic job Devney, you have me as a fan for life now.

I thought this book was down hilarious (specifically Stella). For a novella the timing was perfectly on pace, not to fast not too slow. Willa Nash did an amazing job fitting telling this second chance romance story in just 4 hours! MAAM, I actually need more okay!

Stella and Heath were absolute perfection together and it shows that sometimes relationships are worth the wait! He annoyed me a little and if you read this you will know why but other than that I loved them! Can we get another story about what happens next because it seems like they are going to be having similar life changes as Maddox and Nat (first book of the series)
