Not historical
Revisado: 10-11-24
There was a TV show a few years ago about this time period that i really enjoyed, so i was looking forward to reading this. However it is more soft porn than historical. DNF and returned. I wish we could be advised of this in the advertisement.

Inheriting your uncle's supervillain business is more complicated than you might think. Particularly when you discover who's running the place. Charlie's life is going nowhere fast. A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell, all he wants is to open a pub downtown, if only the bank will approve his loan. Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and leaves his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair) to Charlie. But becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits.

"unionized dolphins and spy cats"
Revisado: 09-09-24
This is not a normal genre for me, so I suppose the potty mouth conversations would be considered normal in a book about villains. Usually, when I come upon that, I delete the book from my library, but I am ashamed to admit that I couldn't stop listening (audible version). The author's imagination was intriguing. He is so convincing, one will find him or herself wondering if "unionized dolphins and spy cats" really exist, especially when considering the intelligence of the little feline devils with whom I am allowed to live. I will probably not read any more of his books due to the language issue, but this one will stick with me for a long time.

niche read
Revisado: 04-19-24
I can't for the life of me remember why I thought this book would be of interest to me. It uncovers the worst of humanity in an historical setting. Hard pass.

lurid details
Revisado: 07-13-22
Stopped reading when the sexual details became th free essence of the story. Disappointed as it had the potential for a lot of political intrigue.
