Historia
More than 44 percent of Americans admit to losing sleep over stress. And while most of us do everything we can to reduce it, Stanford psychologist and best-selling author Kelly McGonigal, PhD, delivers a startling message: Stress isn't bad. In The Upside of Stress, McGonigal highlights new research indicating that stress can, in fact, make us stronger, smarter, and happier - if we learn how to embrace it.

A must read
Revisado: 07-19-24
This is one of the most important books you could ever possibly read. As a physician, I have been taught over and over about the detrimental effects of stress on the body and told that I need to teach my patients how to minimize stress. This is an impossible task in reality, and this book reframes the whole concept of “managing stress” into something that is much more realistic and probably better for your health.

Historia
Tuscany, 1944: As Allied troops advance and bombs fall around deserted villages, a young English soldier, Ulysses Temper, finds himself in the wine cellar of a deserted villa. There, he has a chance encounter with Evelyn Skinner, a middle-aged art historian who has come to Italy to salvage paintings from the ruins and recall long-forgotten memories of her own youth. In each other, Ulysses and Evelyn find a kindred spirit amidst the rubble of war-torn Italy, and set off on a course of events that will shape Ulysses's life for the next four decades.

If you like Lord of the Rings you will love this book
Revisado: 02-06-17
This book was amazing! I generally don't like when books that are narrated by the author however Jean Lowe Carlson did a fantastic job with all of the characters and voices in this audiobook. It was a pleasure to listen to and easy to follow. I enjoyed listening to it so much that I couldn't stop one day for six hours. This book it's reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones series with a touch of Outlander. At about 18 hours long, it is also a good buy for your money. I can't wait for book two to come out.
