Five years after The Final Day, the Republic of New America has all but collapsed into regional powers and the world at large is struggling to remain stable as regional conflicts ravage the post EMP landscape. After several years attempting to lead a quiet life, John Matherson receives the news that the President is dying from a possible assassination attempt, and is asked to step in to negotiate with what appears to be a new military power hidden in the wreckage of the world. Another thrilling book!!!
Revisado: 08-31-23
Dr. Forstchen's series really hit home for me. As a part time resident in Old Fort I am deeply familiar with the locations in this book. I love the turn this one takes. It gives us a whole new angle on the wickedness of men with too much power and the lengths they will go to in order to keep that power over citizens. I have no issues that this is not a shoot'em up book. I really like the struggle for political power that this novel presents.

Historia
Books and Bug are polar opposites, despite their friendship. Rumors on the road speak of a hospital in Washing D.C. Leading a small group of survivors, including pregnant women, the two travel in earnest to provide the soon-to-be mothers a safe place to deliver. Bug–a natural, charismatic leader–refuses to leave anyone behind while Books–a pragmatic social outsider–wishes not to be responsible for the safety of others. Together, they're exactly what this group needs to survive. But DC isn't exactly the safe haven they hoped for.

How is this racist, non-relevant, book allowed?
Revisado: 11-11-22
This book is ridiculous. It has very little to do with the previous 4 books. It follows a completely new set of characters of which I have no attachment. The author is obsessed with the race of every character. He constantly makes it a point to mention, repeatedly, what color each characters skin is. Even to the point of saying what shade of black or brown and how shiny. I'm not making this up, its offensive. Also, I don't speak spanish, so putting lots of spanish words mixed in with some of the characters dialog leaves me clueless. One last thing, I really don't want to experience a fondling scene through the eyes of an innocent child, left me feeling dirty. I'll be asking for my credit back.

Crash landing ending
Revisado: 08-25-18
I was going to give this book all 5 stars until the last 2 or 3 chapters. The story was great and I kept looking at how much listening time was left and kept thinking, there’s no way this plot will wrap up! There has to be a sequel. But no, it’s like the author just lost interest in writing and decided to hastily put together a very poor ending in my opinion.

Julian Elfer (and too many other narrators)
Revisado: 02-06-18
What made the experience of listening to Iron Gold the most enjoyable?
Tim Gerard Reynolds
What did you like best about this story?
I really liked that we are exposed to more technology in this book.
How could the performance have been better?
My first suggestion is to have Tim GR narrate the whole book. He has developed the characters in the first 3 books and did an outstanding job, Why change?
My second suggestion is to eliminate Julian Elfer from the cast of narrators. He delivers an emotionless performance and reads so fast with no inflection that I cannot comprehend his part of the story. Sadly, if he is in the next cast of narrators I will not be listening.

Narrator disappoints
Revisado: 01-12-17
The narrator did not carry over the voice inflections, accents, and character portrayals from "one year after"
It took me a while to adjust to the cadence of each character voice he tried to portray and it made the story hard to follow for the first few chapters.
The story itself was excellent!

At first I thought I bought a sappy teenage romance novel. I stuck with it and after the first part it actually has turned into a good syfy book. I'm looking forward to the next.

Opening your own franchise business is a big step for those who choose the venture, and it can be somewhat intimidating. The franchise marketplace is filled with innumerable franchise systems over a vast range of industries.

For the true beginner
Revisado: 07-18-15
I, as a business owner for 12 years, was looking for a book that would help me understand how to begin franchising my own existing company. I listened to this book because the description lead me to believe that the information contained would provide me with just that. The reality, is that the book is about 40% geared towards people in my situation and 60% geared toward people looking to buy into an existing franchise. Beyond that any information provided is for a true beginner to the business world. Anyone with moderate business experience, even ones who never went to college like me, will probably know most of the information contained in the book. I can certainly say this book would be helpful to an inexperienced person seeking to buy a franchise; but for someone seeking an education on how to turn their existing business into a sellable franchise, this book will simply not be of any help.
But if you are a beginner this will be a great education.
