Historia
Artorian wakes in youthful form version three, and happier he could not be. Exploring Avalon is a treat to the senses, with cat cafes galore and gossip flowing evermore. Lectures on Laws and leisurely walks fill his days, with plenty abound to catch the eye. All is well on this enthusiastic stroll until a Heavenly falls from the sky, and Artorian can kiss his simple days good-bye.

Not much meaningful progession
Revisado: 12-14-24
This is my 3ed time through this book. The second time starting at book one in this series and working up to this book. I was planning on purchasing the next book in the series but I'm on the fence. The change in narrators from the first books was a serious jolt and continuously annoys me. There is little consistency in how names are pronounced. The personalities of the characters changed just because of the narration. Every time the narrator mispronounces a word, a common English word I want to yell at them! It is a narrator's job to speak their language correctly, not to mention where is the producer! Then there is the story line, there is not much meaningful progession and it seems like topics are just swirling. I know Artorian is in a child body, but and the author may want to show the dichotomy of a old man in a child's body/brain but almost everything came off as either patronizing or bratty. At this point the book feels more like a slog to get through than a book that makes my invested in the story line. The only reason I will move forward with the story line is I want to see how things connect to the completionist chronicles. I have to reiterate having the narrator change mid story line seriously ticked me off! The change in narrators felt like a betrayal of the story, and my investment in it!

You'll be awe-inspired by the heroic efforts of the crew of the Endurance, a ship that battled its way for six weeks through thousands of miles of pack ice while ironically only a day's sail from its destination.

good continuation, horible recording quality
Revisado: 12-12-22
good story line continues, not much character growth but good fighting and crafting elements.
the recording quality was beyond garbage, mid sentence audio mixing tons of background static... I think talking into a phones microphone would have been better.
new voice actor, has super cringy character voices, horible accents, and sometimes is difficult to even understand what he is saying the voices are so poorly performed.
the only reason I finished this book is because I am invested into the series. strongly debating continuing.
I can't believe I had to spend a credit to get this poor of quality of a recording. audible should have higher standards.

change in narrator
Revisado: 10-15-22
the story continues and I like it. the new narrator almost killed this book for me. New styles of reading characters changes how they come off and their attitudes. The narrator didn't bother to listen to the last ten books to see how names had been pronounced and that seriously kills my enjoyment of the book. After getting ten books in and having the narrator change I feel like I have been betrayed. Changing narrators mid series is very frustrating.

Historia
At a time when the edge of American settlement barely reached beyond the Appalachian Mountains, two visionaries, President Thomas Jefferson and millionaire John Jacob Astor, foresaw that one day the Pacific would dominate world trade as much as the Atlantic did in their day. Just two years after the Lewis and Clark expedition concluded in 1806, Jefferson and Astor turned their sights westward once again. Thus began one of history's dramatic but largely forgotten turning points in the conquest of the North American continent.

a pleasant reading voice for a phenomenal story
Revisado: 08-06-20
best historical book I've heard in ages, i love how the author keeps the listener connected by adding in useful modern day geographic references. the book starts off with excitement and continues to keeps you from being able to set this book aside for a good night's sleep, it's pretty family friendly and nothing is explicitly stated, it's far cleaner than your average TV show.
