I felt the book could have had a more satisfying ending. It kind of leaves you hanging….

This was a sweet, comforting romance set a few days before Christmas. Easy, enjoyable read with excellent readers.

What a joy to listen too! While the story line of trying to “find oneself” was addressed uniquely and ended up making perfect sense, the story was made complete being delivered by such an engaging narrator. You’d think she’d experienced it herself and was just retelling the story to a friend. So natural and real, and funny right where the author meant it to be. I highly recommend this title for a quick, enjoyable listen!

While beautifully written and narrated, this wasn’t an easy, light-hearted story; still, I finished it in record time. I didn’t want Ryle to hurt Lily. I didn’t want him to have to feel the sorrow and regret when he realized what he’d done - again. I didn’t want to feel the physical and emotional pain Lily experienced at the hands of the man she loved and with whom she’d found such joy. I didn’t want Lily to have to make the heart-wrenching choice to stay or go. But at the same time I was saying, “Go, Lily. You have to go.”

I never witnessed abuse in my family; my parents were happily married for 54 years. And maybe because of that I was one of those people who couldn’t understand how a woman (or man, for that matter) could think so little of themselves that they stayed in an abusive relationship. I’m grateful for this amazing book because I came away with a totally different perspective of the abuse victim, and in the future I’ll have more compassion and understanding when I encounter those trapped in an unbelievably difficult and heartbreakingly sad relationship.
