Overall, this was a decent story, but did get a bit tedious at times, since there was no major climax. Showed a realistic look into cultural racism, and the unfortunate impact it can have on love.

This was a wonderful story full of grit, tenacity, and hope. The main character, Adune, never lost sight of her dreams for a better life despite all of the hardships she endured. You can’t help but to cheer her on as she moves through life. This is a highly enjoyable read!

This book is along the lines of Walter Mosley’s Easy Rawlings series. Lead character, Isaiah, is smart and thoughtful, always picking up on the tiniest details. The story is well developed and has me very excited about reading more from this author!

Captivating depiction of immigrant life in New York. The story makes one appreciate the struggles of others-foreign and domestic.
