Thrillingly addicting novel!
Revisado: 12-08-18
Within just a few chapters, I felt like I couldn’t consume the words quickly enough! It was so thrilling and exciting! My only criticism is a very personal one. It isn’t the style of writing or the story, but the foul language throughout. I understand how impactful the right word can be, but it was too often and not needed in excess. Otherwise, I would download another book from this author right now!

If you like plot twists, you’ll love this book!
Revisado: 09-13-18
Well-told story. The narrator did such an incredible job with the different voices! The character development was exceptional. The language was also clean, which I appreciate greatly.
I am one who typically figures out the plot twist long before it happens. I thought that was the case with this book, but then the plot twisted again... and then again! The story line was so exciting and intriguing! It was difficult to stop listening to it and I actually want to listen to it again. This needs to be a motion picture!

Novice writing but interesting concept
Revisado: 05-15-18
I only finished reading this book because I one who has to see it through to the end. I can't leave books unfinished. The word choices, constantly repeating phrases and sentence transitions made me feel like I was reading a 6th grader's fantasy story assignment for English class. I found myself actually letting out a small, anguished scream every time I heard the phrases "my inner greedy pig" and "having said that" after the 40th time! The storyline is creative, but repeating the same lines over and over like that is far from creative. If I could demand a refund for this book, I would. I'm not a harsh critic and truly find most books satisfying but I just couldn't handle the lack of vocabulary in this book.

Exceptional!!
Revisado: 04-25-18
Wonderful narrator, engaging plot, well-written story! I felt drawn in from the first chapter and found myself thinking about the characters and story even when I wasn't listening to the book! Very entertaining and incredibly submersive.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.
