That’s what I want to tell my daughter.
I feel so alienated after moving to the States and be suddenly hit by the culture and because everyone judges me, as I’m on the battle and I try to challenge my daughter and make everyone to do the same - especially the medical field- the therapists, the physicians, the school workers … It’s overwhelming and after listening to this book, I feel like I’m not alone. I feel that there are those parents who know their kids and love them too much, to not to question their teenage girls about their sudden urge to self harm. That’s how I call the whole procedure of prescribing hormone blockers, using and binders, mental brainwash on the minors! The whole affirmation therapy is an absolute nonsense in the cases of puberty developed gender dysphoria!
Self diagnosing based on what social media influencers have to say, all the changes of the name and pronounce at the school at the doctors office - absolute craziness!
The doctors and therapists should be here for our kids to find the sources of their depression and anxiety not to affirm straight away, that the lost teenager is depressed cause - their parents don’t understand their sudden choice and cause they feel bad in their body ?! Which teenager doesn’t?
I certainly have noticed the trend of every second kid at the high school being different orientation then straight.
What’s community seems not to recognize I feel like there is a huge difference between a child coming out as different sexual orientation then straight, cause there is no physical harm to explore those fields really, but your daughter coming out as a trans person with the applause of everyone around especially doctors, teachers and the teenage idols can be physically, mentally and IRREVERSIBLY harmful to the young person on it’s way of searching for their identity.
Great book, wish for more answers, more scientific proof to support some theories I actually agree with and the actual places me and my 16years old daughter could be helped, while it’s not treated as a “conversion therapy”, rather asking the question- is your perception really your reality?
There is a hope.
Desperate mother of the only Daughter
