Historia
To the wider world, Al Pacino exploded onto the scene like a supernova. He landed his first leading role, in The Panic in Needle Park, in 1971, and by 1975, he had starred in four movies—The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon—that were not just successes but landmarks in the history of film. Those performances became legendary and changed his life forever. Not since Marlon Brando and James Dean in the late 1950s had an actor landed in the culture with such force.

Revisado: 01-27-25
I had to turn the volume way up to try to hear Al speak when I was driving. Idk, theres a lot of content about his movies and acting. He talks about his childhood but maybe glosses over a lot about his adult personal life. There’s many more autobiographies I would recommend before this book.

Historia
With the same emotional generosity and effortlessly compelling storytelling that made All Over But the Shoutin’ a beloved bestseller, Rick Bragg continues his personal history of the Deep South. This time he’s writing about his grandfather Charlie Bundrum, a man who died before Bragg was born but left an indelible imprint on the people who loved him. Drawing on their memories, Bragg reconstructs the life of an unlettered roofer who kept food on his family’s table through the worst of the Great Depression

Despite leaving the courtroom with her reputation intact, Kat's inner life was in turmoil, and it was only due to the loyal support and steadfast encouragement of her ever-increasing fan-base that she managed to complete the sixth volume so soon. Following on from the fifth book, in which she lost her identity but somehow found herself a husband, Karin now finds herself in the precarious position of having to move in with her partner's family - a move known to strain even the tightest of marital bonds.

Historia
The year was 1975, and at age 16, young Keri was desperate to strike out on her own. However, as listeners of the first three volumes of this series will know, her childhood was hardly the loving, supportive, preparatory period it should have been. Should it really be any surprise then, after such a traumatic baptism into life, that her first foray into the adult world was hardly an unmitigated success? But just when she thought she'd finally left her demons behind, she found herself at the mercy of unsavoury characters yet again - and this time, without anyone to turn to...

Was the popularity of this program due to the luck of the Irish or the talent of Frank McCourt? Listen to what the critics are calling "a hard-nosed but lyrical conclusion to the story begun in Angela's Ashes" and "a refreshing Frank McCourt." Also available in unabridged version.

Historia
The definitive, intimate, no-holds-barred biography of Johnny Cash. People don't just listen to Johnny Cash - they believe in him. Although part of his life has been told on film, there are many compelling layers to his story that have remained hidden - until now. Robert Hilburn tells the unvarnished truth about a musical icon whose personal life was far more troubled and his artistry much more profound than even his most devoted fans have realized.

In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice—her truth—was undeniable, and it changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others. The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.

The rumors are unfortunately true
Revisado: 12-27-23
Brittany is an adolescent in an adult woman’s body. I do believe her family and many, many people have been a let down to Brittany. I do believe her family is responsible for a lot of Brittany’s obstacles . It’s also apparent Brittany has poor coping skills and makes emotional and not logical choices. I also think Brittany has some mental deficiencies and might do well to be on some medicine to help her. I’m this book, Brittany completely glosses over her own contributions/actions for WHY she was confined and had privileges/responsibilities taken away from her. I do think the conservatorship was necessary but executed and managed BADLY. Brittany is a feeler versus a thinker. She is emotional versus logical. I just did not really enjoy this book or story. Sorry, Brittany.

Nothing Useful
Revisado: 12-10-23
I couldnt even finish this and wasted a credit. This is the authors story of her version of narcissistic abuse she says she suffered. That’s it. This is not a teaching tool unless you learn from others misfortunes. There are no useful or practical tools offered that you can apply to your own situation. Personally, I like my info or lessons delivered directly, informatively and without a fluff and mamby pamby patronizing victimhood liberal speech patterns. If you’re from California or under 40yo, you’ll prob love this lady. I had to flush this one.

Historia
Growing up in the 1960s in the suburbs of Chicago, Meg Kissinger’s family seemed to live a charmed life. With eight kids and two loving parents, the Kissingers radiated a warm, boisterous energy. Whether they were spending summer days on the shores of Lake Michigan, barreling down the ski slopes, or navigating the trials of their Catholic school, the Kissingers always knew how to live large and play hard. But behind closed doors, a harsher reality was unfolding.

Lib Democrat complaining about Govt.
Revisado: 10-11-23
Ok, I had to stop listening with 2 hours to go. I am very sympathetic to mental sicknesses as I suffer with depression and have cousins with bipolar. However, our govt can try to lend some help and assistance for mentally sick people but IT IS NOT OUR GOVT RESPONSIBILITY TO CARE FOR, SUPPORT AND PARENT MENTALLY SICK PEOPLE. As you know, mentally sick people are over the age of 18 and can do or not do what they want. It is more of the family’s responsibility to support, care for, and manage their relative. The govt didn’t tell your parents to have all those children why is it society’s burden to manage your sick relative. You have a job and money, you take Danny in. If you don’t like govt housing for the mentally ill, then you take in your brother and stop writing letters to the govt that the conditions dont meet your standards for free care, free support, and free management of YOUR brothers life. Youre brother is a burden to society and it’s his own fault. You take care of your own people and stop relying on the govt and my tax dollars for charity for you! You’re a liberal democrat… ask not what your country can do for you but rather what you can do for your country… JFK Why is it the tax payers responsibility to house, clothe, medicate, and feed your “inconvenient” family members for you? You have a job, a double income, a home, and can take this on yourself, you just don’t want to. It interferes with the plans for your hood life, huh? It’s easier to let someone else look after your pesky responsibilities.
