Historia
In the United States, teenagers can focus on one task for only sixty-five seconds at a time, and office workers average only three minutes. Like so many of us, Johann Hari was finding that constantly switching from device to device and tab to tab was a diminishing and depressing way to live. He tried all sorts of self-help solutions—even abandoning his phone for three months—but nothing seemed to work. So Hari went on an epic journey across the world to interview the leading experts on human attention—and he discovered that everything we think we know about this crisis is wrong.

If you haven’t read or are familiar with the early voices in this space, ie cal Newport, Daniel pink, Jaron Lanier, etc about the pitfalls of social media, how to not be controlled by your phone, time management and how to stay healthy and productive, then this book may be eye opening for you. Otherwise it’s nothing new what hasn’t been said before and what’s been said for some time now. I would argue that one of this authors main advice to lock your phone in a safe for a couple hours a day is such a small bandaid fix for the bigger issue at hand and you’d be better off reading cal Newport to really get to the why and how you can be more deliberate and in control of your phone usage. Good book tho for those truly unaware of our current cultural and social situation regarding technology and false positivity corp speak

Historia
This is the story of the eclipse of the British Raj and the birth of an independent India and Pakistan. The fabled India of the maharajas, with their palaces and harems, their gold-caparisoned elephants and their glittering private armies—the India of Kipling’s legendary army, with its young British officers commanding troops of a dozen races, religions, and castes—the India of tiger hunts and pigsticking.

For the true history buff

This book is super detailed. The narrative framework and construct is well done but I could have gone with an abridged version because the author gives every single detail for every story

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Just Okay

Any additional comments?
I'm surprised by the high ratings that are attached to this book. It was a vaguely interesting plot that got bogged down by random and obscure facts about the 1980's. The dialogue was immature and this easily could have been labeled as a young adult book if not for the occasional swearing. If you're on the fence about this book I wouldn't recommend it

Historia
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Incredible Book!
Revisado: 10-11-15
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jim Dale?
Honestly anybody else. I could not distinguish his voices for each character and his voice for the children, young adults and women was laughable. This is one of the few books I regret listening to on audiobook.
Any additional comments?
I absolutely loved this book, could not stop listening to it and was sad when it was over. My only complaint about the story is that it could have gone deeper. I don't know if the author didn't want to get 'too emotional' but a lot of the relationships could have been teased out a bit more. Maybe someday she'll have a supplemental book which would be really cool and not excessive in the least.
