Couldn't finish it...
Revisado: 08-10-17
What was most disappointing about Janae Mitchell’s story?
The narrator
What didn’t you like about Shannon Tyo’s performance?
UCH!!! The constant use of a double 'D' where the "T" should be - it's important not impordant - also that awful spit clicking in her mouth - I had to turn it off.

- De: Lisa Jackson
- Narrado por: Kate Rudd
Written from the perspective of a 70 year woman
Revisado: 08-10-17
What would have made He's My Soldier Boy better?
The characters could have had a sense of humour - not one funny word spilled from their fictitious mouths. Words like 'skinflint' died in the Victorian era and should probably stay there unless of course you're writing a Victorian story.
What could Lisa Jackson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Write it funnier, it's a romance, funny men are sexy - brooding is hot but without funny its just...eh.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kate Rudd?
Kate Rudd sounds takes great effort to emphasise every word she's speaking it comes off sounding automated. The Midwest accent is always a tough one to listen to - if I was picking someone to read my books - I'd pick James Franco :)

Historia
In her best-selling novel, Tricks, Ellen Hopkins introduced us to five memorable characters tackling enormous questions: Eden, the preacher's daughter who turns tricks in Vegas and is helped into a child prostitution rescue; Seth, the gay farm boy disowned by his father who finds himself without money or resources other than his own body; Whitney, the privileged kid coaxed into the life by a pimp and whose dreams are ruined in a heroin haze.

If you could sum up Traffick in three words, what would they be?
Sad ride, happy ending
What did you like best about this story?
The characters were very diverse and well defined. The story took me through a wide array of feelings which any book worth it's salt should do. I enjoyed this read and would recommend to anyone
What three words best describe the narrators’s performance?
All the narrators (and it is a treat to have different one's for each character) were really good. Rebekka Ross's use of 'een' instead of 'ing' as always was cringe worthy. It's like having Penny from The Big Bang Theory reading to me - yuck! Com-een & Go-een-puts my teeth on edge. The character of Cody would have been more endearing if he'd had a different voice, the guy reading his part would have been better suited to Seth in my opinion.

Historia
Alone in an empty house, Lucy tries to imagine the lives of her two young children. They have been gone for seven years, and she is tormented by the role she played in that heartbreaking loss. You can hardly see a glimpse of the sexy, edgy woman she used to be. Back then, she was a magnet for men like Matt, who loved her beyond reason, and Griffin, who wouldn't let go but always left her wanting more. Now the lies they told and the choices they made have come to haunt all three of them.

Absolutely Awful Male Narrator
Revisado: 12-05-14
The story was good, not one of the characters was at all likeable which was difficult but overall good book. Andy Ingalls was the absolute worst narrator I've heard in my many years of audio books-he sounded like he needed to be plugged in paired with a lisp I had to force myself to finish the book. I will flag anything he does going forward to avoid the pain again.

OMG Get on with it already
Revisado: 12-05-14
What disappointed you about The Hollow?
Everything, the plot line sounded interesting but it took forever to go anywhere
Has The Hollow turned you off from other books in this genre?
Perhaps
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her painful enunciation of every letter of every word put my teeth on edge, she did however manage to read it in a way that made me think something good was around the corner when in reality it was further minutia about how the main characters feet were cold and the long drawn out process she would take to warm them up, blah, blah, blah - get on with the story.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger this book could have been reduced to a short story and been a completely interesting read-all the details of how Abby walked to school, her perfume making, what her parents were saying at any given moment - it just dragged on & on - I finally skipped to the epilogue without any fear of missing something good - I hate not finishing a book
Any additional comments?
The story got lost in the detail-cut the crap next time and I may read another.

Historia
Collateral centers on Ashley, an MFA student at San Diego State University. She grew up reading books and never dreamed she would become a military wife. One night she meets a handsome soldier named Cole. He doesn’t match the stereotype of the aggressive military man. He’s passionate and romantic. He even writes poetry. Their relationship evolves into a sexually charged love affair that goes on for five years and survives four deployments.

Great Book - Awful Narrator
Revisado: 06-11-14
Where does Collateral rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
All of Ellen Hopkins books are amazing, never disappointed, unfortunately I'll have to buy the Kindle version of this one as well - Rebekkah Ross is too hard to listen to - monotone, says 'een' for every work ending with 'ing' puts my teeth on edge
What other book might you compare Collateral to and why?
I haven't read anyting around this topic but Ellen Hopkins books all have a similar feel, not to say they're formulaic but each one keeps you wanting more - she always produces a great read.
How could the performance have been better?
If the narrator would just say 'ing' instead of 'een' she'd probably be ok for the voice of a teenager but for more mature characters she doesn't cut it.
