Historia
What does it mean to be a Kennedy? If ever three women would be challenged and changed by marriage into a family, it would be Jacqueline Bouvier, Ethel Skakel, and Joan Bennett. None of these radiant brides could have ever been prepared for the fame, the family, and tragedies that would spring from their lives. As they struggled to cope with their husbands' infidelities, the harsh glare of the media, and the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy, these women would learn what it meant to be sisters, reaching out to one another with comfort and consolation.

Historia
By Winston Churchill's own admission, victory in the Second World War would have been "impossible without her". Until now, however, the only existing biography of Churchill's wife, Clementine, was written by her daughter. Sonia Purnell finally gives Clementine her due with a deeply researched account that tells her life story, revealing how she was instrumental in softening FDR's initial dislike of her husband and paving the way for Britain's close relationship with America.

Historia
The life of Princess May of Teck is one of the great Cinderella stories in history. From a family of impoverished nobility, she was chosen by Queen Victoria as the bride for her eldest grandson, the scandalous Duke of Clarence, heir to the throne, who died mysteriously before their marriage. Despite this setback, she became queen, mother of two kings, grandmother of the current queen, and a lasting symbol of the majesty of the British throne.

Using never before seen sources, Once a King is a fresh, revelatory and gripping insight into the Duke of Windsor - King Edward VIII - who gave up the throne to marry the woman he loved, twice divorced American Wallis Simpson. Considering Edward VIII's travels and interests as Prince of Wales as well as his relationship with Wallis Simpson and the course of events leading up to his abdication and subsequent exile, Once a King offers a previously unexplored lens through which we encounter two of the twentieth century's most iconic Royal figures: the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

His family was horrible!
Revisado: 03-11-24
Loved the book! Found myself so disappointed in the Royal Family every time Prince Edward suffered yet another slap in the face by them! And Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Mother) seems to have been at the heart of most of it! Ironic how her adored Grandson, Prince Charles, ended up doing the same in the end!! Imagine the head of the English church married a divorcee’ now when she was so appalled then!! A different time perhaps but it all seems so hypocritical now! Anyway, I loved the book and can’t recommend it enough!!! I couldn’t put it down!!!

Tragic Love Story
Revisado: 03-09-24
Loved this book. Could not stop listening!! I now have a new opinion of the Queen Mother Elizabeth. I’m convinced it was she who forbade any acknowledgement of Wallace! From her writings to Queen Mary to her refusal to include Wallace in any Royal functions. What a bitter nasty woman!! Married to a PRINCE entitled Wallace to be HRH, but the Queen Mother Elizabeth would never allow her husband the King to grant this! I believe the Queen Mother Elizabeth was afraid she and King George would be overshadowed by Wallace and Prince Edward!! Therefore the couple was banished from England and never recognized by the monarchy! And, shame on King George for allowing his wife to destroy the family bond! And, look at the King today…Charles married his mistress that he cheated on his wife with!! I have newfound admiration for the love story that was Wallace and Edward!! So tragic yet so magical and enduring!

An amazing woman who led a truly amazing life.
Revisado: 02-04-24
Having read many books on Jackie Kennedy, I was afraid this book might be too similar to the others I read about Jackie’s life. I was pleasantly surprised to learn of people in her life and new information about day to day life that I had not read before. I was also surprised by the author’s insight re: the multiple women in Jack Kennedys life. Both Jackie’s tolerance of them and the Presidents slow realization of how each one hurt her. Definitely a good read you won’t regret. A very good book about an extraordinary woman.

Historia
Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, is synonymous with the Kennedy family. It is where, for a hundred years, America’s most storied political family has come to celebrate, bond, play, and grieve. It is also the setting of so many events we remember: JFK giving his presidential acceptance speech, Jackie speaking with a Life magazine reporter just days after her husband’s assassination, Senator Edward Kennedy seeking refuge after the Chappaquiddick crash, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger tying the knot—and even Conor Kennedy courting pop star Taylor Swift.
