Historia
In New York Times best-selling author Victoria Laurie’s newest Psychic Eye Mystery, Abby Cooper is trusting her intuition and heading to Sin City to bet on a friend’s innocence.... When police show Abby surveillance video of her best friend and business partner, Candice Fusco, shooting a man in cold blood, she can’t believe her eyes. And when the cops tell her they think the victim has ties to the Mob - and perhaps Candice does, too - she can’t believe her ears. Surely there is a logical explanation.

Stupidity was over the top.
Revisado: 03-17-23
Let me say up front I usually enjoy this series. Like most most fictional mysteries there are mistakes and inconsistencies you have to overlook but I expect that. This story had an over the top level of stupidity for supposedly professional agents in taking the pictures and videos at face value without investigating and looking at a number of obvious alternatives, or checking timelines. It is so irritating it is making it hard to listen to.

Not my week for narration
Revisado: 03-09-23
The story seems well done but I’m struggling to stay with it. The narration sounds like it was generated by a voice synthesizer.

Historia
He's a billionaire heir. A grump supreme. Hater of people. Bigger hater of peopling with people. And my new fake boyfriend. "Emotionally unavailable" doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement. My job’s simple: Keep all interested ladies away from the walled-off heir, by pretending to be his one true love. But you know what they say about fake-dating a billionaire: It’s all fun and games, until the scandals start.

Historia
Father Solomon Lancaster—the town's dry-witted sheriff and priest at the community Catholic church—finds himself on the forefront of an investigation into a series of murders. Soon, he's fighting to match wits with the serial killer terrorizing his town while trying to justify his law-enforcement credentials to the FBI as their analysts and profilers take Crooked Creek, Indiana, by storm. But Father Solomon is hiding secrets of his own. Ones that threaten to rise to the surface as the murders continue and the investigation draws nearer to the truth.

A waste of talent
Revisado: 08-21-22
Well written but with no redeeming features. One scene was especially disgusting to anyone with an ounce of empathy. The "bad guy" wasn't that clever. I know law enforcement sometimes gits blinders and messes up, but these keystone cops were beyond idiots. There was nothing 'entertaining' in this story.

Historia
The most common triggers for homicide are fear, rage, revenge, money, lust, and, more rarely, sheer madness. This isn’t an exact science, of course. Any given murder can have multiple triggers. Sex and revenge seem to be common partners in crime. This book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw. In each case, I examine the trigger that led to death. I chose this theme for the book because even though the why of a murder case may not be critical in an investigation, it can sometimes lead us to the killer.

The Same but More!
Revisado: 03-13-21
You will have seen and heard most of these stories in the series and his previous book, but there is much more detail and gut reaction here. I found it well worth the listen. I also appreciated his stronger stance in this book, that people in stress-filled and potentially emotionally damaging jobs, should seek help finding healthy ways of dealing with these issues.

Read like real historic characters, not re-enacter
Revisado: 02-11-21
Sorry. The title wouldn’t let me add an “s”. A previous review didn’t like the detail the story went into, but it painted a very realistic picture of the Victorian period and conditions. Florence Nightingale was shown as an intelligent woman trying to work in or around the attitudes and restrictions of her era before she became a well-known figure. She herself isn’t perfect. She is impatient and not a “people person”. She knows this, but is unaware of the source of some of the timidity and kowtowing that irritate her being rooted in the precarious positions of some of the people who are living just a step or two away from disaster and starvation. Or, perhaps I should say, she knows it intellectually, but not really at a gut level. This is obviously due to her own privileged upbringing, The mystery is complex, but she spent as much time worrying over its effect on her plans and the hospital’s reputation as she did on solving the mystery. But she was the main person pushing to have it solved rather than sweeping it under the rug, as most of the other powerful people in the story did.

This series just gets better
Revisado: 02-02-21
l really like the relationship between the characters in this series. The banter is amusing but the author knows how to transition between lighthearted and serious in a believable manner.
The narrator makes the characters distinct and easy to follow..
In this book of the series we are given an interesting and seemingly accurate rendition of the early stages of air flight research and manufacturing.

LOVE Gordon Hampton’s recordings
Revisado: 05-20-20
Cape Cod National Seasore is the second Nature recording by Gordon Hampton. I have tried when going to sleep. It is half as long as Hoh Rainforest, only an hour, but it doesn’t matter because I haven’t stayed awake that long with either of these. So much more realistic than the apps. I am so grateful to Audible for offering these for free during the shutdown. If you are considering these recordings during a period when you have to purchase them,I am telling you that they are well worth it! But right now the recordings are free so jump on the opportunity.

Authentic and Relaxing
Revisado: 05-20-20
All of the relaxation sound apps I've tried before I find slightly annoying because I can tell the pattern of their repeating. I actually find that irritating rather than relaxing. But this recording is the real deal. I doubt I've gotten more than an hour into it before falling asleep. I can't wait to try the rest of Gordon Hempton's recordings.

Really Good way to learn Japanese.
Revisado: 07-01-19
Emphasizes learning to speak authenticity and organized to maximize getting the language into long term memory. No spelling or learning characters.you can work on that latter if you want.I don’t think that is useful for beginners. Very economical and you can take the lessons anywhere with you. Combine it with Anki, would be my suggestion.
