Best meditation for someone who doesn't meditate
Revisado: 10-10-20
I don't meditate but would like to so I bought a bunch of audible meditation sessions. One day was really hard for me just all around and I needed something to help me. Put this on and opened myself up to the experience and by the end I felt so much more at peace and like I wasn't being crushed by the moment. I hope it has the same effect for you!

I am one of those people who feels badly about leaving a poor review but I also feel like I should let people know what I wish I knew before purchasing.
As mentioned in many other reviews, I don't understand why they matched this title to the (very little) spoken word. I will say I have tried other Joel Thielke that I did enjoy - even if content was still a bit bare, especially for the long sleep cycle ones - so I will be fair and leave a good review on those. If you are curious which I liked, I am talking about Spiritual Cleanse, Stop Procrastination, and lastly the Positive Thinking collection, which I liked the best. I really enjoyed his voice, I had the speed at 1.2 from a previous book when I listened to those and enjoyed it, will retry at regular speed just to see.
I mean no offense to the narrator of this session but her voice is definitely not for me. The accent plus the weird intonation and the too near resemblance to those automated/robotic voices used for narrating YouTube list videos (I would 100% believe she recorded for that) was not soothing for me. I tried at 1.2 speed and then at 1.0 speed just to make sure the robotic quality wasn't due to acceleration and that helped slightly but it just wasn't for me. The "melody" of her speech by the way she varied her pitch (or sometimes didn't) for the words and syllables seemed unnatural to me. Cadence was also off because she stretched some words awkwardly (she only did this ostensibly for a few lines). When her voice became more of a whisper, I did actually enjoy that but it was shortlived and the speech "melody" ending on a higher pitch where I naturally wanted a lower pitch was still a bit jarring. I think it would seem a lot better if she went with the whisper voice entirely and/or could relax her speech, lower her pitch, use more natural intonation and not sound as robotic. To be fair, maybe it is just the nature of her regional British (or similar) accent; people from that region might love her voice and it's only that I am too accustomed to US speech patterns...
As far as music, it sounded a bit too tinny on my echo dot but I didn't have the strong aversion to it that other reviewers did, especially at a low volume.
