Library! Library! Library! Not Liberry!
Revisado: 02-18-20
As uninspiring as this book was, I was able to tolerate it most of the time...except for the times the narrator mispronounced the word "library" as "liberry."
The "Thinking Woman" was anything but. Granted in the first part of the book she was under multiple spells. However later, there are no spells or enchantments to explain why she can't see to think clearly at all. Then the book just ends. Not that I really cared what happened to the characters.
Fortunately, I borrowed this book through Audible Escape, so I didn't pay for it.

The last thing her adoring public would expect is that she craves some peace and quiet. The humdrum hamlet of Walmsley Parva in the English countryside seems just the ticket. And, honestly, until America comes to its senses and repeals Prohibition, Beryl has no intention of returning stateside and subjecting herself to bathtub gin.

I have lived with this book for years
Revisado: 11-13-17
Decades ago, in my 20's I read this book. It is one of the few books I've read that has stuck with me all that time. When is discovered it on Audible, I was thrilled. I'm always a bit leery of revisiting books that I loved so much so long ago. I'm not the same person I was then, so will the book mean as much to me now?
I was glad to find that I actually enjoyed the book more now than I did then. Although it is classified as science fiction, it is a deeply moving story of two beings who seek to understand each other, and ultimately, themselves.

Enjoyable short mystery stories
Revisado: 11-12-17
As much as I love a good murder mystery, there are times I'm not in the mood for a terrifying serial killer or a detective who has more issues than the killer's s/he's pursuing. Cherringham is perfect for those times. Cozy, without being cutsie, these novella length mysteries strike a good balance between character development and solving the crime. I look forward to the next three stories in the series.

Glad the narrator was good
Revisado: 11-12-17
Although I finished this, I can't say I enjoyed all of it. It was slow moving, which wasn't the problem. The problem was that it was slow moving with a rather clunky ending - not a climax so much as a dull thud. I suppose I might have enjoyed it more if I were of a religious bent.

Historia
A gloriously mad desert island romp - complete with zombies, walrus pirates and a talking goldfish called Albie. Like Robinson Crusoe on acid, it follows the adventures of Isaac, a shipwrecked sailor whose boat is sunk by a excess of radio sound effects and is then washed up in a tropical paradise where warring tribes compete to pay homage to a giant sea beast called Gary. A fast-paced gag fest which is a splendid mix of music hall and surreal nonsense, which is fresh, intriguing and laugh-out-loud funny.

What was this supposed to be?
Revisado: 08-16-15
Would you try another book from Dewi Llywelyn and/or the narrators?
The narrators, maybe. Dewi Llywelyn, no.
What was most disappointing about Dewi Llywelyn’s story?
It wasn't least bit funny or engaging. Sounded like an attempt by a seven-year-old to channel Monty Python or Douglas Adams where only every fiftieth word came through.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?
No one different. They just had awful material to work with.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No.
Any additional comments?
It was an attempt at something, I just don't know what.

Done to death concept
Revisado: 08-16-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
No one.
Has Working for the Big Man turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I'd give Audible more chances to show they can produce a funny program, but a this point I would recommend a completely new set of editors.
Any additional comments?
The horrible boss who really doesn't have a clue, the "I've given up" manager, and the hapless new guy - funny if handled well. However, practically every genre is littered with examples of how bad it can be when it is not and this is one of the times it is not well done.

Revisado: 08-16-15
Any additional comments?
The performers were good, but they didn't have much to work with. I found it highly predictable and was glad when it was over. There were a couple of amusing moments, but they were not enough to salvage the whole.

Historia
Meet Miranda. She is a cheerful and happy-go-lucky single girl who just happens to be a dominatrix with a dungeon in her flat, where she services clients with flogging, extreme correction and (if she’s lucky) gets the occasional slave to pay her for the honour of doing her vacuuming. And when she’s not delivering 30 lashes to the sensitive parts of religious zealots or doing step-aerobics in stilettos on the buttocks of retired army officers, she is just trying to get on with the neighbours....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Not really. It was rather boring despite the the content.
Any additional comments?
It wasn't funny. There was potential, but it only reached mildly amusing.

Deadly Dull
Revisado: 07-22-15
What would have made Catching Up better?
Less whining.
What was most disappointing about Bronagh Fegan’s story?
There was nothing about any of the characters that made me care at all about them. The story line was dull and predictable.
What character would you cut from Catching Up?
All of them.
Any additional comments?
I was very glad when this came to an end. It it gets beyond the pilot stage, I won't be listening to it.
