Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

That Awful Music
Revisado: 07-28-23
As stated by many other reviewers, the music makes this book unlistenable. The vocal work is great, I liked his voice and characterizations, but that music. At its best, it was distracting, and at its worst, infuriating. I listen to my books in my car and have the volume turned up to hear the quiet vocals, when, without notice, a guitar pick is screamingly dragged down the guitar strings. I finally quit, there's no reason I should be angry at a Stephen King story (unless he kills the dog or baby). The story wasn't intriguing enough to keep torturing myself, as I still had 13 hours to go. It's rare that I don't finish an audiobook, but this one gets that dishonor.

The relentless pursuit of high self-esteem has become a virtual religion - and a tyrannical one at that. Our ultracompetitive culture tells us we need to be constantly above average to feel good about ourselves, but there is always someone more attractive, successful, or intelligent than we are. And even when we do manage to grab hold of high self-esteem for a brief moment, we can't seem to keep it. Our sense of self-worth goes up and down like a ping-pong ball, rising and falling in lockstep with our latest success or failure.

Wrong Voice IMHO
Revisado: 12-20-22
The voice of the reader didn't seem to match the voice of the author. Her voice was very calm, almost hypnotic, but then she would drop an F bomb or say something like "sex goddess" and it just didn't like up.
The writing is good and I'll probably read a hard copy of it.

Historia
Although Scott Carey doesn’t look any different, he’s been steadily losing weight. There are a couple of other odd things, too. He weighs the same in his clothes and out of them, no matter how heavy they are. Scott doesn’t want to be poked and prodded. He mostly just wants someone else to know, and he trusts Doctor Bob Ellis. In the small town of Castle Rock, the setting of many of King’s most iconic stories, Scott is engaged in a low-grade - but escalating - battle with the lesbians next door whose dog regularly drops his business on Scott’s lawn. One of the women is friendly; the other, cold as ice.

Sigh
Revisado: 09-18-22
I'm a HUGE King fan and this was easily the worst book I've read of his. As for the performance, well...he's a good writer. He does ok with middle-aged guys, but younger people or women are almost comical.
I had zero investment in the characters, it almost seemed as if this was a rough outline to present to your editor for a full-sized novel. This could have been better if it had been more developed.

Rollercoaster
Revisado: 08-12-22
The story was interesting, but I was taken out of it by non-Star Wars things like references to hot chocolate, ice cream cones, sharks, etc. And, I swear if I hear the phrase "Ohchee of Bestoon" (sp?) one more time... The vocal performance was good, but you can tell this is a Disney scramble to try and fix the sequels.

Mediocre Stories, Poor Audio
Revisado: 06-29-22
The stories would be more for young people, if some of the plots, dialogue, and situations weren't pushing adult levels
The recording was harsh with "S" being extreme. You had to decide between turning up the volume to hear and having your ear blasted with hard consonants. Invest in a windscreen for your mic next time.

Funny and interesting
Revisado: 08-02-21
I haven't read Jericho's other books, but now they're on my wishlist. He had me laughing out loud a couple of times and found most all of his stories interesting.
The narrator sounds good and has a nice array of voices. However, he mispronounced wrestlers' names, moves, and other cultural and geographical names. An editor (or Jericho himself) should've made corrections and rerecorded the errors as they happened in just about every chapter.

Meh
Revisado: 07-01-21
I'm a big Star Wars fan, and this story was ok. It wasn't until the end that I felt any tension.
I've read a lot of reviews praising the vocal talents of the reader, but I was underwhelmed. Many of the characters sounded like stereotypes of cartoon characters or bad impressions of celebrities. I appreciate how difficult it must be to have unique voices for the large number of characters, but there has to be a better solution. And don't get me started on the children's voices! Whiney and annoying.

Historia
In December 2017 the famous porn star August Ames committed suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. It happened a day after she’d been the victim of a pile-on, via Twitter, by fellow porn professionals - punishment for her tweeting something deemed homophobic. A month later, August’s husband, Kevin, connected with Jon Ronson to tell the story of how Twitter bullying killed his wife. What neither Kevin nor Ronson realized was that Ronson would soon hear rumors and secrets hinting at a very different story - something mysterious and unexpected and terrible.

He said, She said
Revisado: 01-02-20
I tried to listen to this, but it was just full of interviews with horrible people that sounded like they thought their opinion and way of doing things was all that mattered. No one accepted responsibility for anything and many pointed fingers at others. Not an interesting or enjoyable story of what could've been an intriguing story. I made it about a 1/3 through before I gave up.
