Morgan used to be a pretty normal guy. He went to college by day and played online games by night, leading his guild into new conquests - until he got hit by a car and a dude wearing a wet suit appeared in front of him. The man offered him a new chance at life in a world he had created, a world with similar rules to the games Morgan loved to play. There is the promise of great rewards and power, he says, if Morgan manages to complete the Tower of Power.

Interesting and well paced
Revisado: 02-11-25
This series is well written, has a good pace, the characters are believable, and developed well enough. I may have liked them to be a little more developed, however, I can see why the author chose to not go in depth more than he did.
I think the relationship between Morgan and his sperm donor is interesting. one thing I don't understand is Morgan's need to impress his SD.
Morgan's romantic relationship is developed quite quickly. and thankfully it was not jaw clinching. it was pretty straightforward. two people that liked each other and grew to love each other.
The magic system was interesting and I think well thought out and executed. It did make sense which not all magic systems do to me.
Overall I felt it was a good and fast listen.

Hate Companion
Revisado: 02-11-25
The author has made the guardian companion spiteful, verbally abusive, stressful, not helpful, and just a drag. MC is already alone on a world with nothing. No trees, no bacteria, no fungus, no water, nothing. His verbally abusive little companion is supposed to be helpful to him and is not. I just got tired of listening to the verbal abuse. I think the story could have been interesting if the companion had just been written better. If the author wanted to show that the companion was reluctant to be helpful, he could have done it in a million other ways. If I was the MC I might have booted the companion. So I am quitting at chapter 8. I have listened to well over 500 books. I've only returned a handful. I hope your experience with this book is better. I felt like the premise of the story had promise, however, I never got to that promise because of this mentally and verbally abusive companion

A story about a father's love.
Revisado: 07-27-23
When it comes down to it, this story is about a father pulled from his family, put into a horrible situation, and ultimately using the love of his family to make the world a better place. This book is funny, interesting, and a very good read. You're not going to find Einstein's theory here, but you will find some jokes and the Love of a father.
This book contains laughter, jokes, father and son time, and a vampire being the best dad he can. There are no harems. there is no one man with three women that follow him around at all times waiting to have sex with him. Read this book, you won't regret it.

I highly recommend this series
Revisado: 05-08-23
I don't write many reviews, however, I really wanted other people to read this series. The main character Thorn (Xavier) is a smart guy. He definitely does not think like a 16-year-old, however, his parent, his intelligence, his circumstances, and the people who have influenced him have definitely left their mark.
Thorn has a condition that has kept him from living a normal life. He is put in a state with his mind going into a game while his body is being treated for his condition. The game mechanics are very well thought out. The book says that it is not a VR but a new world, it sounds like that is more true than a game. The books show his growth from when he first entered the new world and how his thinking changed. There are people who betray him, however, it also shows how he handles this betrayal in a very mature way, using it to grow instead of allowing it to hamper his future relationships, emotional growth, mental well-being, and life enjoyment. You watch as Thorn thinks about what happened, why it happened, and how he is going to allow the actions of others to affect him.
Read these books, you will not be disappointed.

Historia
Jack Diller is just one more struggling actor on the road to nowhere. He’s got an agent who barely remembers his name, his ex-girlfriend has hooked up with a Silicon Valley dude, and the milk in his fridge is so far past its sell-by date it’s historic. The only way Jack can scrape together a bare existence is by delivering food to exactly the types of successful people he wishes he could be. Then, one day, a very strange audiobook shows up on his phone.

Thank goodness it was a short book.
Revisado: 01-06-23
From the blurb that was written about this book I completely felt like it was going to go differently. The main character is whiny and stupid, his ex seems nice however I don't understand her boyfriend who seems simple, and I don't really understand her being so condescending toward the main character. This MC is very one-dimensional, you never really find out what his good characteristics are beyond being nice. The ending was a little surprising however completely implausible, even with how stupid the main character is. The only reason this is even getting three stars is because of the narrators who were freaking awesome. Honestly, I'm not even sure if two stars is too much. It's free and if you don't mind wasting the time listening to it, go for it. If you have to pay for it, skip it unless you just want to listen to the narration, then it would be worth it. I love Ron Perlman.

I like the story, except for the harem
Revisado: 12-05-22
Frankly, I have no interest in reading a harem book. I will admit I got the second book because I really wanted to know what was going to happen. I think the big story is interesting. I do not understand a harem though. You can tell it's written by a male because he has no sympathy for the fact that women when they are in love and their man knows how to take care of them, would like to sleep with their male, cuddle, talk in bed, touch and kiss often.
The main, Jason, seems like a good guy. Why Jason wants to build a cabin in the middle of the woods when he has been wheelchair-bound for 5 years is beyond me. I would think Jason would want to enjoy a healthy body. Go adventure, explore, mountain climb, learn how to make jewelry or smith. For Jason to be like, "Yea been wheelchair-bound for five years. I just want to be able to walk again, build a cabin and stay at the cabin", just seems incredibly stupid if you ask me.
Jason drops into his new virtual world in a little glen in a lowbie zone, okay, yeah, that makes sense. He is given a companion by the AI, okay. I can see that, maybe. He summons a demon and then within a few minutes, breaks the game, the demon is a gorgeous pink-haired woman who worships him and insists on calling him master. Honestly, this main is just handed things on a silver platter. He does not work for it. NONE. He has women falling all over themselves to adventure with him, but he wants to build a cabin. He has a huge virtual world to explore and he wants to build a small cabin and not adventure. Why didn't he just stay in the real world in his apartment?
Why are all these women falling all over themselves to be with him? Okay, so he seems nice. However, so do a lot of men for the first few days. Then they stop acting and are men. I mean, come on. The only way to be with Jason is to accept having 6 other women in your relationship too. I certainly hope they add another six men to this little group. It would be mean to only let a woman have intimate time one time a week and the male has intimate time every night. It doesn't even make sense. Then if, on your night, he's not feeling good, he's tired, or not in the mood, the woman has to wait another seven days. Frankly, I think it makes more sense for women to have seven husbands.
I hope the author maybe finds some compassion for these women, fleshes them out more, gives them more back story, gives the main more of an adventurous spirit, and improves the next books. Maybe find some more husbands for all his wives.
I did like the different races. I liked the overall concept of world-building. I thought that was actually interesting and I did not predict how it was going to go with the gods and such. This is actually the only reason I would recommend the book, that is the only reason I got the second book, I wanted to see how the author continued the world.

Narration was better then the "story"
Revisado: 12-05-22
The is not so much a story as an anecdote with lots of sex. The main female character has no development. I did not understand why she was alone, she was supposedly a beautiful woman, who was smart, funny, and compassionate. However, she lives in the backwoods, though she appears to live quite close to a bigger down. Close enough that a large, multimillion-dollar corporation is based out of it. They have an exclusive Italian restaurant and several different sorts of were-animals and their "packs" live there too. She has no back story and within a few days she is living with a pack of "alphas".
Honestly, if I wanted to just read about a woman having several men service her, I would find my books locally in the back room of a small bookstore. I really wanted to know more about all the people, I wanted more backstory about the main female and the men. I kept waiting for it to get better.
If you do not mind not having a real back story, not really getting to know the mains, and just jumping into sex. Then this is a good enough read. If you are going to be paying for this book and want some depth, I would buy something else.
The performance was pretty good though. I think the narrators did a find job.

Yet, the other members of his team are ready for some relaxation, and fun in the sun. After all, there should be huge perks that come with stopping an invasion in its tracks. But surprisingly, being famous for making the Kingdom wealthy and powerful has its downsides. Namely, there is now a huge price on their heads. Revisado: 03-17-22
so I do think this book was better than the first one. There was definitely more character growth. but sometimes I was a little confused especially at the beginning as to when the characters would begin to grow. but it eventually happened. The bloopers at the end were unexpectedly funny and I listen to a mall. Christian Gilliland is a genius.

Finally some reality in my fantasy.
Revisado: 03-10-22
I very much enjoyed this book. The two main characters who I count to be Jake and Jacob are both very likable in completely different ways.
I completely understand Jake in that he is someone that enjoys being alone though does at times want the company of others. He also enjoys doing things, learning things, and excelling. I liked Jake can do some soul-searching without also being stupid about it. sometimes it feels as though other authors are actually making the soul searching more forced in order for something to be there to search. Jake came into the situation understanding himself at a basic level however during his time alone he thinks about himself, his past actions, and his past relationships. When he is thinking about these things it doesn't seem like he is being fake about it. It seems to be things that people would actually think about and want to have done differently. These thoughts do not feel contrived. These thoughts belong in the story where they are. Jake is growing in an organic way.
Jacob is very likable. He does not come off as him seeming to feel he is better than anyone. I look forward to getting to know Jacob better in the next book.
I love this narrator his voice is awesome, he has very good pacing, and his emotion is always perfect.

I have listened to this book many times.
Revisado: 01-11-22
I love that this book is a mixture of magic and science fiction. It is not heavy in either one of these genre though. Even someone who is not heavily into either fantasy or science-fiction could still enjoy this book.
This book ultimately is about people doing the very best they can for each other and society, while trying to continue to not do evil.
Just because something has happened that could possibly break a law does not mean you are a bad person. If you use an excuse such as breaking the law to continue to do bad that is still on you.
I think this book is more about relationships, loyalty, integrity, and striving to be good and fair through all odds.
I like the narrator. However, I know many people would not. He does not do female voices, he does not change accents, he does not even change the manner in which he speaks. I do like his voice though. I think this narrator would have to be very choosy in which book he narrates. If the book is not decently written there is no way he would be able to narrate that would allow you to understand who is talking.
