I'm not a book critic at all.
This therapy trend in adolescence was pretty new when I was a kid and I soaked it up at my middle and high schools. while I was having troubles and I do think it helped to talk with somebody, having my own kids has really changed how I see things. I love how the author points to fostering indepence in youth rather than the full focus of our love as parents seeking to disect and direct every emotion of these budding people. It's a solid reminder of how intense life is - experience changes things and we're meant to learn and gain resilience, not be protected from every discomfort. I posted a recommendation on my FB page and promptly received warnings about the author's problematic position as she isn't one to affirm the current social trends. "Phobic" this and "lack of" that. Honestly, as a kid, if somebody other than my dad were to tell me that life is hard occasionally and you've just got to suck it up... it may have helped! 🤷🏼‍♀️

I haven't listened to Dave Rubin much but I will now! I resonate strongly with his story and what he has learned in his political evolution.

I am a listener who was once very left-leaning. I'm growing to find I can get behind conservative ideals as I learn more... This book shares a common sense perspective on the actions in the "rebellion" of those who don't appreciate how our American society is laid out... I do believe our education system, our news media, and our celebrity culture has disrupted the maturing process for many Americans looking to find their place in society. This book focuses on perceived moral shortcomings and how they hinder a productive society. I can understand all of this now, but if I were where I was emotionally a couple years ago- I would have thought this guy was an a$$hole for judging so harshly. Love it or hate it type of stuff.

This audiobook was phenomenal to me. Obviously, anybody hesitant to take this in because of the title and content itself would be advised to use their own personal discernment with the messages.... but it's one (three) of those books that just hits home for me. I've received so much benefit from this that I'm selectively recommending it to friends... using the inspiration to clarify my purpose and next steps.
