Historia
Sparkling with magical realism, this book follows nine seemingly separate stories that dovetail in an unexpected and profound climax. It begins with a mysterious pow-wow to be held inside a colossal tipi, 3.5 miles tall and three miles wide, which suddenly appears on the outskirts of a small town. Advertising fliers blanket the area and all of Indian country, billing itself as "The Pow-Wow of all Pow-Wows." There is a stipulation to the pow-wow though: only full-blooded Native Americans are allowed to dance, drum, or attend the grand event.

What a wonderful story
Revisado: 11-13-22
I am not a native person, outside of Europe, but I am envious of native, indigenous, cultures round the world for their honest interpretation, love, community and values. To follow this story from a non-native perspective, the listener/reader must have some background in native mythology and especially the conditions under which modern natives have been forced to live with. Also, please future readers/listeners, if the story isn't grammatically correct... realize the story is written as it is told and if it followed english conventions any further, the magic would be lost, too, in the wake.
That Native Thomas and Steven Paul Judd created a literary art piece. Meshing, intertwining, weaving lives, experiences, traditional and modern, beautiful.

This is His Story...
Revisado: 11-02-21
This is the story the pope wiuld have you believe. This is not the actual origins of our holy days. While there are definitely interesting events, technology and stories in this book, they fall short of truly authentic origins. Example, a priest saw snow shining on an evergreen tree, he thought it was beautiful and had one brought in and decorated... or some none sense like that. There are literally hundreds of winter solstice festivals, many revering evergreen trees, yet she professes catholic priests originated our modes of celebration. I haven't gotten through Easter, but no mention of fertility yet... bunnies and eggs!

Historia
When Garnet Raven was three years old, he was taken from his home on an Ojibway Indian reserve and placed in a series of foster homes. Having reached his mid-teens, he escapes at the first available opportunity, only to find himself cast adrift on the streets of the big city. Having skirted the urban underbelly once too often by age 20, he finds himself thrown in jail. While there, he gets a surprise letter from his long-forgotten native family. The sudden communication from his past spurs him to return to the reserve following his release from jail.

An important story for everyone
Revisado: 10-02-21
I liked this entire book and all of the author's books I've read so far. I recommend this book to anyone who questions white america's culture and overall direction. We seem to take our freedom and technology for granted, but are wholly unaware of the cost in native, african, aboriginal and even our own lives. This story is awe inspiring- despite the incredible sadness, it is uplifting and hopeful.

The Iliad is the first epic poem in human history and it tells a story about ancient Greek heroes, their brave deeds, and the great battles they fought. The events narrated in The Iliad take place in the ancient city of Troy during a siege of ten years. The poem doesn’t only narrate the great deeds of its protagonists but also their tragic fates. History Academy’s translation of the poem is extremely close to the original work of Homer and it can be listened to by both an experienced listener and an occasional one.

Terrible translation
Revisado: 08-11-20
I am extremely disappointed with the choice of terms. People didn't die in the book, they kicked the bucket or bit the dust. Animals were not killed or sacrificed, they were murdered. Trying to follow, in all seriousness, lines such as "People were kicking the bucket all around him," was absurd. What a waste of money! I am apalled that I share the planet with folks whose mindset is so twisted they must make this absolute historic work of literature safe and inoffensive. People die, wars were fought and animals are killed, get over it.
