Really enjoying this series about young widow-turned-sleuth Lily Adler. This is the second in the 5-book series by Schellman, with a terrific narrator who really brings the characters alive.

This series focuses on 3 young women in the early 1800s who care for a dozen illegitimate children tossed aside by wealthy families. "Pursuit of Home" focuses on Jess, the cook, who has a mysterious past with royal ties. Love this mystery, and her relationship with Derrick, who makes his living as an art researcher and appraiser. Art pays a crucial role in this novel, along with royal bad behavior. The audiobook narrator, Beverley A. Crick, is fantastic!!

This lengthy epilogue helped tremendously in wrapping up the loose ends in Linden's 3 books and 2 novellas in her Desperately Seeking Duke series, while filling out the likely happy futures for all the main characters. I wish more of my favorite authors would take this epilogue approach in wrapping up their series of enjoyable books. And narrator Beverley A. Crick is a treasure!!

Phillipa and Will aren't your typical couple. Her mother is from India, and his family background is based on a huge secret. Loved the surprise ending. The audibook narrator, Beverley A. Crick, is one of my favorites, and perfectly nails the various accents.

I am not usually a fan of religious fiction, even though I'm a Christian, but Lawana Blackwell's books are magical exceptions, especially this 4-book series about the village of Gresham. Her characters are multidimensional and face realistic challenges. And I LOVE narrator Beverley Crick, who makea them all SO real. I found myself swept into this English village, and the late 1880s. I already lament that there seem to be no more new adventures of Vicar Phelps and his wife, actor Ambrose Clay and his lovely wife Fiona, and all the dozens of other villagers. This series is a true gift.

I'm not usually a fan of books with strong religious overtones, but Lawana Blackwell's magical Gresham series is so well-crafted and well-written that I am making an exception. I became acquainted because I am such a fan of narrator Beverley Crick, who truly brings so many stories to life. She has made this book, The Courtship of the Vicar's Daughter, and its predecessor, The Widow of Larkspur Inn, so memorable. The author has made the main characters endearing, but flawed. Their vitality and challenges make them seem soo real. Eagerly preparing to listen to Book 3!!

Loved this book, largely because Beverley Crick is such a marvelous narrator. She excels in creating male voices, as well as female ones. This love story is also a sweet one, about a duke who had a difficult childhood and a woman -- poor cousin to his half-brother-- who also has survived her own troubled past..

I read this series a few years ago, and was happy to see that Audible had snagged the wonderful Justin Eyre for the audio version. She does a great job with male and female voices and, in this case, exudes the passion needed to make the Matrimonial Arrangement come alive!
My one beef is that another narrator, less gifted, was chosen for the other 3 books in this series. Disliked the samples, and won't be purchasing them.
Audible should re-record them with Ms. Eyre..

Marvelous end to terrific series!

Loved, loved this book -- and the audiobook was even better!! The narrator, Beverley Crick, added the emotional heft and multi-voice talents needed to really make this audiobook come alive. In all 3 books in this series, the plots and the characters are well-thought out, quirky and original. Iris is a terrific heroine who makes no apology for her love of books and her desire to correct her deceased grandfather's reputation. Duke Nicholas is trying to balance his family's financial struggles. and resolve it's deadly mysteries, with his desire to have a true companion in life. Author Madeline Hunter's gifts in crafting such addictive stories are why she's among my favorite writers..

Narrator Bianca Amato does a magical job of bringing this lovely story to life. Enjoy the history about the telegraph industry in the late 1800s.
