I would have like to know what Otto died from and that Danna’s mother and brother were captured

I liked the story and thought it portrayed what the south was really like after the war....the hatred, racism and lawlessness that still prevailed. I was very disappointed with the ending...I felt like the story just petered out...I would have liked to knowm more about what became of the boys who fled north.

This book has touched me and made me think in a way few books have. Growing up in a "white bread" small town world I missed a lot of the inherent racism that the protagonist talks about. I thought of myself as open minded and as a person that takes each person on face value. You have to do or say something to make me form any opinion about you. So as this story developed I became more unsure of how I actually do understand race and what my part is. The BLM movement has brought many issues to the forefront. It has taken a radical violent turn in some areas of the nation which I feel may be damaging the opportunity to move forward in our nation on minority rights. It is hard to change ones thinking after years of indoctrination by a parent or a respected authority as was demonstrated by some of the leading characters in this book. I would personally like to think that I could, given the same set of circumstances, be like the public defender in the story. I would hope those of color reading this novel would see and appreciate her commitment to understanding her part in racism and her efforts in trying to change. I personally love Jodi Picoult's writing and have strongly recommended this book to friends.

What did you love best about Keeping Faith?

I liked how the Mother and Grandmother believed the child was seeing God and did not try to dissuade her from her experience. She had the faith of a child in that she was not afraid of what she was seeing and did not try to hide the experience or exploit it. It seemed that she was not even aware of her "healing" power until the end. I do think that it brought out the fact that all children react to divorce.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked the guardian. She came with an open mind and was not afraid to retract her recommendation when it became apparent that the mother was not harming her child.

Have you listened to any of Julia Gibson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am unsure.

If you could rename Keeping Faith, what would you call it?
