The word corpsmen is pronounced: koremen. The p and s are silent. I think it is important, especially considering the subject.

What a wonderful book. The narrator was perfect. However, the audio had many issues. When audible.com replaced my first copy, I continued to have issues with the audio.

Bashes the United States
Revisado: 04-17-20
The author portends that the US is the source of Cuba’s problems without saying why. She doesn’t say why - probably because it is not true.
This is a chick-lit novel at best. It held my attention long enough to finish it. That is something.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Historia
Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination. Rose Mary painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family; she called herself an "excitement addict."

Historia
No matter what was happening in Jennifer Weiner's life - whether good, bad, or very, very ugly - her mother, Fran, would say the same thing: It's all material. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author and "one of the biggest names in popular fiction" ( USA Today), beloved on Twitter and hailed as "an unlikely feminist enforcer" ( The New Yorker), takes the raw stuff of her personal life and spins it into a collection of personal essays as uproariously funny and heartfelt as the best of Tina Fey and Nora Ephron.

Planned Parenthood Supporter-Ugh!
Revisado: 08-14-19
I loved this book until Jennifer discussed how much she loved and appreciated Planned Parenthood. If Planned Parenthood is so good at what they do-give out condoms and sell other ways of preventing pregnancy, then why in the world do they have to give abortions? Hmmm? I guess that Planned Parenthood isn't so good at planning parenthood.
I have read all of Jennifer's books, but I am done now. I knew she was a liberal. Even though I am a conservative, I still read her books and watched her movie. If you support baby killers, then you ought to keep that to yourself. No one wants to know that about you. I am sorry that you don't love unborn babies-you were once one yourself. It is vile and disgusting to know that you appreciate people who actually help to kill babies and that you give money to support killing babies.
I will be returning all of my audible books by Weiner. Too bad you just can't keep your politics to yourself. BTW, you should keep your politics to yourself too. What difference does it make who you voted for? I don't care. I wish that you didn't either. I voted for Trump and will do so again.
I am so disappointed.

Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Worst audible book ever
Revisado: 05-24-18
Claire Danes proved herself to be as poor of a narrator as she is an actress. She has no flair for this sort of performance and basically phones it in. She mispronounced “filet” as in fish filet as “fill it.” Ugh. As much as I disliked the narrator, I disliked this book even more. Atwood is smug. Her introduction begs a lesson in American history. She wants so badly to be a part of the “women are poorly treated in America” agenda in order to sell more books. What a sham. I will never listen to Danes narrate or read another Margaret Atwood book again. What a terrible experience.
