The Filler Saga is finally over.
Revisado: 05-05-23
I was very excited when seeing we were again getting a longer book and I should have known better, it just meant they could fit in more filler.
You about 15 hours of opening filler followed by 15 hours of the plot actually moving. Jason still waivers between being borderline omniscient and painfully unaware.
There is still good humor and fun interactions between the characters but I'm keeping up with the series now out of momentum than anything else.
it also feels like they're setting him up to be some kind of "chosen one" for the love of God, I hope that's not the case.
Here's hoping the next arc brings us more killer and less filler.

Historia
The world teeters on the brink of destruction. The people who should be saving the Earth ignore Jason Asano's warnings and choose to loot the house as it burns down around them. He lacks the strength to save the world himself, but resolves to do it anyway, impossible be damned. The impossible, in this case, means seizing a power that no mortal should touch. It's a choice from which there is no turning back, and marks Jason's first step into a wider cosmos that he is not yet ready to face. Holding the fate of two worlds in his hands, Jason must decide for himself what home truly means.

Extremely rushed and disappointing end to arc
Revisado: 07-04-22
The whole Earth Arc was a huge step back for the series. And couldn't be happier that it has concluded. Jason is just too OP in these three novels and there is a serious lack of depth to almost everything.
more importantly, this book was like filler episodes in an otherwise great Anime. This very easily could have been half the length and combined with book 5.

Historia
Tor’s rebellion against the Mindolarn Empire has delivered a crippling blow - the death of Emperor Mentas. Seeking aid from their allies, the Mindolarn Empire turns to the Principality of Soroth and its society of mages, the Sorothian Magical Order. In an effort to aid the empire, the Order’s council mounts an expedition to travel to the nethermost reaches of the world, the Abodine Wasteland. There they must venture to a reliquary hidden deep within crystal ruins left over from a fabled war now almost forgotten.

Kramer's narration the only redeeming feature.

Some perspective - I gave Prince's Errand 4/5 stars.
Being blunt, this is a bad book that not even Michael Kramer's top tier narration can save.
While it's interesting to learn some characters back stories, each character is shallow and one dimensional. The troupe's are beyond cliche "Rich playboy decides he wants one specific woman forever" (For no reason whatsoever I may add) and "Mysterious, dangerous, and beautiful bad girl uses seduction to get what she wants". Come on. Maybe you could have done this in a book similar in scope to Prince's Errand but this is rushed and poorly executed. I simply haven't been given enough time or perspective to care about these characters to realize any change is significant. The narrative suffers from telling instead of showing. It feels like we are dumped in a novel a third of the way in.
What the Zangari's do well is write combat the action is beautifully told and easy to visualize. What they do terribly is any sort of "Romance" in a plot, which plays way too much a role in this book. Think about how unbelievable Iltar's romantic subplot was and while that wasn't well executed this is tragically worse.
Additionally the"Greatee Kalda" interludes being you further away from the story you are already distance from. They can be skipped.
I would stay far away from this book. I hope this is not an indication of how all the in-between stories of this series will be.

Historia
Long ago, men harnessed the Channels of Power, creating tevisrals: devices capable of manifesting magic. But men weren't the only ones to accomplish such feats. Dragons crafted the most sophisticated tevisrals. These shaped the world, defining civilization of man and elf alike. Over the centuries, the people of Kalda have fallen into a dark age, where elves are estranged from men and dragons have retreated into legend.

Good story weighed down by bad plot devices.
Revisado: 06-13-21
Before I get into the negative let me start by saying I like this book it was a good read but I could have loved it and that's what it frustrating.
You have two incredibly intelligent and worldly main character who are taken by surprise by some of the most obvious circumstances. I'm suppose to believe this fooled them when it was so incredibly telegraphic where the plot was going? I don't think so, this really did take me out of the book at time which was unfortunate. thee are a handful of occasions where the narrative suffers from a severe lack of creativity.
The action is very well written and enjoyable Though there is some cringe worry lines like - "Women" come on you can do better than that, especially when it's used multiple times in the same chapter.
Michael Kramer delivers an incredible performance as always. I'll continue with this series but hope there is some better editorial decisions made in the future.
