Fabulously done!

I thought I would check this book out because of issues the future could hold or even what I can maybe see in my own future. I expected more of a resource book, but it was so much more. It's truly one of my favorite "reads" ever. Jacqueline Marcell kept me totally enthralled along the way, with humor, wisdom, common fears, weeding through solutions and hard decisions.... and just kept me laughing out loud through most of it. Sometimes it's a laugh or cry situation, so you cry a little and then choose the laugh. Heartbreaking as it is in spots, it’s a wonderful, entertaining, and resourceful read/listen. I am particularly glad I purchased the audible version because Jacqueline's recitation makes it all worthwhile. I even loved her singing! (truly, Jacqueline, I did... I could relate to every single diddy.) I honestly think it should be made into a movie. Or a documentary. It would be a one-of-a-kind -- and so many people could relate to it and maybe find a sense of peace and not feeling so alone, I would imagine. I don't listen to books more than once as a general rule, but this is definitely in my repertoire of resources books as well as entertainment, and I have no doubt I'll be listening again and utilizing my bookmarks.
Thank you, Jacqueline, for the time you took to write and read your book for Audible and for showing your own vulnerabilities amongst your conquered moments. Truly a gem.

I expected too much.
Revisado: 04-07-20
I just knew I would be in love with this story....and I might have, had I been able to listen to the end. But it just seemed to get too repetitive in the story line and I found myself bored. :( I might try again down the line.
Maybe I should just read it.
The narration was okay except for the whispery, breathless attempt at doing the woman/girlfriend's speaking part. The more it happened, the more it made me -- I'm so sorry -- cringe. A slight change in tone and cadence would have sufficed. I just listened to William Jackson Harper narrating a book, and it was absolute delight. He didn't overtry when speaking the female parts and it rolled along smoothly without any confusion.
I also found this story to be awkward when relating to the whole ex-girlfriend portion. It just wasn't believeable. Maybe it's cultural and my Western approach. I'll give that weight.
I thought I would take away some underlying wisdom from this story.... and maybe I will if I can ever finish it. Unfortunately, I just could not continue. I hope someone can encourage me to finish it and convice me that I will love it at the end if I do.

Historia
Wally Roux is a teenage genius with a big imagination and a big heart, who just moved to Savannah, GA, from Maine with his mom, who adopted him when he was an infant. In this charming and sweet solo performance, Wally investigates what is causing a number of strange events and occurrences. He explores and gets lost within space-time - an infinite, indefinable, and mysterious void that you can’t see but when you slice into it you can feel it.

My favorite Audible Original so far!
Revisado: 04-01-20
I wish this Audible Original was 10 hours long. I enjoyed it immensely, in no small part to the narration by William Jackson Harper!
First and foremost, I want to thank Mr. Harper for not overemphasizing a sappy female voice as he read the female portions. I recently was listening to another Audible selection and I had to just stop with it because the narrator did such a overextended female voice and it was super irritating, whispery and just .....ick.
Mr. Harper's inflection throughout made for fantastic story-telling. I really couldn't get enough. I want more narrated by Wiliam Jackson Harper... I will be on a hunt!
This was narrated perfectly, IMHO, and the story was fun and entertaining and just all around a great listen. I loved the content, the writing, every single little thing about it. It's one I'll actually listen to again. I don't do that normally!
Thank You! And I'm SOOOOOO GLAD I chose this one!!!!!

Take us around another curve....
Revisado: 09-01-18
Patricia’s story intrigued me every step of the way. History, culture, humor, and love. Uniquely entertaining and often heartbreaking, but the resounding theme of never give up and being observant and the power of love will resonate with everyone. Absolutely love her delivery and the openness and humor she brings her story to life with. Highly recommend this unconventional storytelling!
