Historia
Change is the only constant, and not all change is good. The change most recent for Tristan Walker was all the free time he now had after finding his girlfriend in a compromising position with a few other people. He went back to his normal routine of life and had mostly forgotten the indiscretion when he found himself waking on his couch after a bright flash of light, with two suns hanging in the sky.

Probably Harem, but couldn't get that far (Spoilers)
Revisado: 01-26-25
SPOILERS FOR UP TO CHAPTER 3
So pretty graffic with a rapes scene early on, but I probably could have dealt with it as story line in F'd up new world. However, when effectively drugged women ask the main character to essentially rape them, and he justifies it to himself I was done. Love Isekai and system novels, but couldn't even get through 3 chapters. I can get through some crap stories, so this is an accomplishment.

Fantastic Series
Revisado: 05-29-24
First book in a great series. Re-reading it for the third time, Michael Chatfield is a great author. The main characters bring the best of American ideals to a world where the strong make the rules. Our combat medic and Marine are going to teach the corrupt that there are still heroes willing to step up and kick butt!

Get past the first few chapters!
Revisado: 01-10-23
The first few chapters lay background for the book, but we're hard for me to get through, but once I did, I really found myself getting pulled into the world and Jeff's life. While I feel it will help if you enjoy litrpg, it certainly isn't necessary. This isn't a book where you have to listen to long lists of stats being read again and again.
I cringe, groan, and cheer for Jeff as he discovers the highs and lows of the human society he's been thrown into.

Very Enjoyable LitRPG
Revisado: 04-28-22
Okay, if you don't enjoy litrpg then just move along... Honestly, the beginning was a bit rough and jumpy due to the premise and trying to get the reader the base information and character development. However once our main character started playing the game I was in.
Loved a female gamer's perspective, and while I would love to say it was overdone, I have seen way too many of the player mini-villains and wish them many stays in The Between!
This was a fun romp and I can't wait for a sequel!

Good Start
Revisado: 06-02-20
The first two books in this series were decent, but not outstanding. It was a different twist and interesting, but the further through the series it went, the more over powered the main character gets. I enjoyed it, but won't be listening/reading them again, as it wasn't that good. These first two books had help from an editor, the next two did not, and weren't really worth reading. They really need help from a good editor. I hope the author keeps writing, but invests in help.

Historia
Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage.

Would be good for late pre-teens
Revisado: 12-19-18
Okay, so teen fiction can be a fun escape, but this is really more of a late pre-teen escape. As someone else said, this is a bit like Home Alone in space. It might be a bit scary for very young kids (younger than 8-10 depending on the kid), but I think it would lose it's appeal quickly for kids past 14 or so. It seems like it is really aimed at 12 year old boys, and I was a bit disappointed at some of the lackluster dialog at the end.

Great Story but Difficult Listen
Revisado: 10-02-17
Let me start out by saying that I am a big fan of Wen Spencer's writing. It's always difficult to start a new series, but very quickly I was invested in what would happen to them. That said if it hadn't been written by one of my favorite authors, I would have probably turned off the book because of the performance.
First, the reader for the first chapter (yes, multiple readers; I'll get back to that) has an odd take on how to pronounce wolf. This might not be a big issue in most books, but in a story about werewolves? Well, let's just say that hearing about the woof doing this, and the woof doing that, was extremely cringe worthy.
Second, time to get back to the multiple readers. I've heard some performances that worked, but normally there are only two readers. In this case there are four main characters and the reader changes for each chapter's point of view.
Unfortunately, this was jarring. Each character has a definite voice in text already, so I really don't think this was necessary. Many times there will be a switch between characters having a conversation, which completely changes the voice of the characters in the audio book.
It's bad when multiple family members cringe at the start of a new chapter, but the performance definitely took something away from the story. I would recommend reading it on the kindle instead. I will be reading this book, and when I do, that's how I will do it.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 07-26-15
This was laugh out loud funny!
If you have always laughed at the ridiculousness of Star Trek and related shows, this is a story that you can point at and say, "that is exactly why I could never get into watching those shows," as the world these characters are in gets ever more developed, bizarre, but altogether enveloping.
If you have always enjoyed watching Star Trek, then you will love this book even more! You can see facets of many of the crew from the original Enterprise. Every time you compare the story to some half remembered scene from a sci-fi rerun, you will be slapping you knee, stomping your feet, or laughing so hard that your kids will pretend not to know you, and strangers will look worried as the hurry in the opposite direction.
Also, the fact that Will Wheaton narrates this story with his steady, slightly sardonic tone, added a cherry on top for me.
If you don't really care about science fiction one way or another... Well, I pity you. Have an opinion for once and get off the fence.
Love or hate the genre, this book really has something for everyone!
